Welcome back loyal readers (all five of you), except most of you can't read this right now. That's the unfortunate result of cyberterrorism. It seems Google's ad system was compromised and had the result of affecting a number of websites out there. We're hoping things get cleared up soon and we can bring things back online. We have to make sure nothing on the server was damaged before we do that though. So yeah, enjoy the rest of the show.

Not much has happened recently. With the holiday season in full swing many staff and members have been less active, so there's not as much to do. Unfortunately there still seem to be some problems people are experiencing. We are looking into it, but so far have not found anything on BZPower that could be causing the problems members are reporting.

For what, you ask? Why all sorts of things. Lots of videogames, for one. Mass Effect has been sucking up my free time, and when I'm not playing that it's either Guitar Hero III or Halo 3. I haven't even been able to touch Hellgate: London for more than a few hours, which is ok, because I hear it needs some patches. Aside from that, my school recently subscribed to Ruckus, which gives me access to a whole lot of music for essentially free. It's covered with DRM, but hey, music is music, and you c

It has recently come to my attention that for the past few contest, there has been some cheating going on in the RPG Forum. I thank the people that reported the cheating, it will make the contest voting fair, as it should be. Please note, that if someone reports another member of something, we do not blindly accept it

So another Friday, and another day I've manged to do a weekly update. Last week was pretty busy. The biggest news of course was the appointment of Tufi Piyufi as a Forum Administrator. Let me congratulate her here again. The other Admins and I had talked about the idea for a bit before finally deciding the extra help would be most useful. We're definitely glad we made the choice after the many years Jen's been helping us out as a staff member here on BZP.

Since apparently people did like this idea I guess I'll continue with these updates. I would have posted this one earlier but I picked up Hellgate: London this week and it's been sucking up a lot of my time while I haven't been putting out fires on BZP or working.
So, this week there were a couple instances of spammers getting onto BZP and posting some very inappropriate images and messages. Fortunately we were able to respond very quickly and ban the members and remove the images and content
Well, no one seemed to like my idea so I guess we'll toss it down the drain. Oh well.
In other news, it's amazing sometimes how a few select members think they're being treated unfairly because they don't get Premier Perks. The system is there to reward those who help keep the site running, not to take away from others.

So, with the past two RPG contests, a trend has started where members review one another's RPG entries in the official discussion topic. This is great, the feedback goes to improve a lot of entries and results in an overall higher quality of stories for our members to vote on and participate in. On the other hand, it makes the discussion topic very cluttered and makes it hard to see any questions anyone may be asking. So I've been thinking of ways to remedy this; here's what I've come up with so
So today the first commercial from the Halo 3 ad campaign was released exclusively on Yahoo! While personally I enjoyed it, I can definitely see how people who aren't fans of the series may miss what it's trying to convey. Then again, they may get it completely, as it completely lacks any game footage and focuses on story and emotion. I encourage everyone to check it out.

Last weekend was Major League Gaming's second event of 2007, which took place in the Meadowlands in New Jersey. Being a short trip away and a huge Halo fan, I of course stopped by to watch the pros do their thing. In my mind, gaming has recently gone to a whole new level, there are people making a living off of playing games competitively, and people like me who watch it and follow it almost as if it's a sport.
