Year two-thousand and eight (edit: whoops!) proved a wild and yet wonderful year to me.
It all started with the Times Square ball dropping nearly a year ago, signaling the start of the year. January was rather boring, to be truthful, though my first time staffing a Boy Scout activity was nice, as I enjoyed warm enchiladas in the snow while others huddled around Cup o' Noodles. What a wonderful Klondike.

So my laptop has been giving me problems for the last few months or so. Made me pull my beard out a couple times, beat my chest in anger, devolve into a rabid ape in frustration, etc. So I decided, after much deliberation, to do a complete system restore to factory settings, the ultimate superweapon to computer software problems, and this system, being Vista, needed a superweapon.
It didn't work.
The recovery disk apparently has errors and won't finish system reinstallation, and even that

This is something that always makes me wonder in awe.
I've stood silently, taking in my surroundings, enjoying every minute of it. But somewhere, someone is going to work, someone comes home, someone dies, someone is born, and someone wakes to a new day. Every second, a bird chirps, a branch falls, a shark feeds, and seas of grass swirl in the wind. The simple prospect that while we stand silently six billion voices and untold sounds of nature speak their chorus of life is simply amazing.
I typically don't talk about my Scouting life here, but here's an update. I'm a section chief, which basically means I'm like a regional governor of sorts. My area is all of Western Oregon (the I-5 corridor) including some of northern California down to Castle Crags and up to Southern Washington, including Vancouver. As such, I lead some 2,500 youth and adult members of the Order of the Arrow and represent them at national planning meetings as well as have a say in the direction of the organiz
The creek is not running anymore. Thankfully, I filled in our water tanks before, so we have about 5000 gallons of water for now. I hope.
We really need to update our archaic water system.
