You have to be a certain type of person to be BZP staff, from what I've gathered. And as such, I think this trait or combinations of traits are genetic. We've seen two sibling staff members (Adv and Zeddy). It's also quote possible that two people with these characteristics are attracted to each other: Niki + Smeag, Turakii + TLH.
Just a little thought.
