2013 Steam Summer Sale haul

Alright, barring a gigantic 90%+ sale on various games before the end of today, I've picked up Dust: An Elysian Tail, Awesomenauts + soundtrack, Super Meat Boy + soundtrack, Surgeon Simulator 2013, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Just Cause 1, and the 400 Days DLC for The Walking Dead. All in all, about $40.   On the one hand I like to think that, considering that's how much I used to spend on full games(Remember when console games were $40 instead of $60?) and wouldn't buy me a PS3 game noawadays, I like

Well, that's unfortunate

Well, the day has finally come where my three-year-old operating system is not current enough to run the programs I want to run.   I knew this day was coming eventually, but I was hoping it'd outlast this computer.   Should I bite the bullet and pay $20 to upgrade, or should I hold out hope that it'll only be one or two more programs over the rest of the life of this computer?

My new right shoe

Say hello to Däs Boot, which I am going to be wearing for the next four weeks whenever I walk. Stress fractures suck. On that note, remember that it never hurts to get a second opinion from a second doctor. It could save you five weeks of bad advice.

Prognosis negative

...Or would it be positive? I don't know. Whichever one means "You're fine" I guess.   Anyway, after freaking out about a week ago when I was moving my brother to his apartment that I had a hernia, I have a doctor's confirmation it was just a strained abdominal muscle.   So hooray for dodged bullets! Also, don't lift file cabinets kids, it's not safe. And please don't ask why my brother needs a file cabinet in his apartment. It's a long story.

Dust: An Elysidontknow whatsit

So, Steam Summer Sale and stuff. This game popped up on the "featured" page for 50% off, and I've heard a ton of good stuff about it. I'm always up for a good RPG and a good platformer, and from what I've heard, this game is both. Unfortunately, the game is Windows only, I am still running the MacBook Pro I bought back in 2010 for music and art, and, considering audio production and graphic design are both minors for me in college, I still need it for both of those.   So, in a nutshell: How is t

Surgeon Simulator 2013

Why do the missions get easier as I go along?   Seriously, brain surgery is a cakewalk compared to heart surgery. It's weird.

Guess who's back

Back again   Neccy's back   Tell a friend   We'll see how things go with time allowing me to be on here. I'd love to come back, and at least for a few weeks I am back, but fingers crossed I can stay once school starts back up.

Football Is A Sport

So, another forum I'm on just started up their 2012 Fantasy Football league.   I know there are a few other football fans on here - at least in the blagoblag - so I was curious if there's enough interest for a BZP fantasy league?

An Open Letter To Videogame Developers

Hello,   Next time you are making a game in which the player has an AI-controlled ally/allies, please, go play Star Wars: Republic Commando before getting to work on designing your game.   I have loved that game for years, and I still love it, in no small part because it has the best squad AI I have ever seen.   In spite of the entire industry having seven full years to improve on it.   Heck, it seems to have taken a big step backwards if ME3 and Skyrim are any indication.   Just a friendly sugg

Weird

So apparently I am a really good motivational speaker, according to another forum I'm on.   Maybe it's just me, but I don't get how. I just say things and hope it sounds right.   Is it really that motivational?

A Problem With Being Tall

I'm almost always taller than the cameraman in photos.   As a result, since I'm used to taking photos with the other people in my family holding the camera - who are all around the same height - I end up looking straight ahead in a lot of photos, which because of the angle makes it look like I'm being arrogant and turning my chin up at them.   The result is I'm much more photogenic for taller cameramen. With other people, I look arrogant and silly.

Remember Me?

So yeah, sorry about disappearing again - between pre-op stuff, end-of-year stuff, graduation stuff, Skyrim, Madden, and Mass Effect, I kind of didn't have a whole lot of free time.   However I will be completely out of it and stuck at home the next few weeks, so I return!   How much chaos did I mis out on?

Jumping Ship

So, it seems like every time I turn on my 360, I find more and more things that I can't access without buying Gold. As I've said here before, I despise subscription fees, and it'll be a cold day at Electronic Arts before I pay a subscription fee for something I may not even touch for months, especially with college looming.   Combine this with the fact that Mass Effect 1 was the only real 360 exclusive that I really wanted, and I've seen most of the carry-over stuff from it in ME2 and ME3 alread

Well, That's Inconvenient Again

So, it turns out my first-gen iPod Touch is too old to run the ME3 app thing - it requires at least version 4.1, and 3.2 is the newest mine can handle.   So I suppose for now I'll be waiting out until June when I'm stuck at home because of the jaw surgery, and just buying a few months of gold membership so I have something to do during that time to build up galactic readiness. Who knows, maybe by then Bioware will fix whatever made everyone fussy about the ending.

Some Semblance Of Normalcy Is Restored

So, I have my computer back. It turns out that the damage they did while repairing it basically meant everything had to be replaced, so hard drive, RAM, and bottom panel aside, this is essentially a brand new machine.     Also tried out the new iPads while I was there since the last time I had tried one was about a year ago. They've improved them a great deal - I still want to see more improvement before I consider it more than a nifty gadget, and I'd never give up a full computer for one, bu

Well, That's Inconvenient

So, as said before, my computer is in the shop, which is problematic for a few things I was planning over spring break.   I called the shop today, and apparently when they were doing the repair, someone tore the ribbon cable connecting the monitor to the motherboard, so they have to order a new one, wait for that to arrive, and install that before giving me my computer back.   Which wouldn't be quite as bad if it weren't for the fact the keyboard on this rental laptop I've been using is awkward

Well, That's Convenient

So, apparently after looking it over, I'm still short on war resources in order to get the best ending. Maddeningly short, too - only about 100 short, which is easily doable by a handful of things I was lazy about.   However apparently one of those iOS apps that let you up your readiness is free.   I have not used it in months since I really only use it for music anymore, and my old iPod Video is about twice the size, but my first-gen iPod Touch may have renewed usefulness.

I'm Commander Herpderp, And I Need Advice Again

Not dead, just very deep into ME3. As always, spoilers ahead. Again, since the spoiler tags don't always work on the Dashboard, here's a rambling bit of needless, pointless text in order to ensure nobody has stuff spoiled. I think that should be good enough, but just to be absolutely certain, here is another sentence. Or maybe even two, for good measure.         Thanks, as always.

I'm Commander Shepard, And This Is My Favourite Moral Dilemma On The Citadel

ME3 spoilers below. Obviously, you have been warned, since, well, spoiler tags.     Additional text here is filler to serve the purpose of taking up space with pedantic, overly-long run-on sentences, because I know sometimes tags don't work on the dashboard, and do not wish to unintentionally reveal any specific, sensitive, important plot details of the third game in the Mass Effect videogame series for those who have not played it or have not reached this point in it yet.   There, that should b

Not Love

I hate those moments in Bioware games where I can't tell if a dialog option is going to have me be nice to a character I like, or if it's going to start me in a romance with them.

America, Eh?

So, finished ME2 at last, onto ME3. This is taking up way too much time, but I don't have much better to do.   Without spoiling anything, the part where you're on Earth seems to indicate Vancouver is the capital of the Alliance. This is probably because Bioware's Canadian, eh.   However here's something I don't get.   First, right off the bat, why is it Vancouver instead of Ottawa? You'd figure the capital now would be the capital then.   Second, why isn't it Washington DC? This may sound like i
