The Ibm Challenge

Whooper Swan

I can't wait for the IBM challenge on JEOPARDY! tomorrow and the days after. It will be an incredibly exciting grunge match between two human beings at the peak of mental capacity and a machine with the entirety of scientific progress behind it.

I watched NOVA and it just intensified the anticipation. All and all a very interesting episode of NOVA, however. :P

So who's going to win? Place your bets people! I say Watson, because it was my original thought.

I'm pulling for Ken Jennings.

Because he's awesome.

(also I just don't want to have a robot beat a human)

(it's I, Robot all over again)

@Sumiki: But robots are cool man! They're the wave of the future, you know what I'm saying? B)

@Cherixon: I'm also pumped, it's on tonight, and boy I can't wait. Maybe I'll get some popcorn, or something...

@Vorahk: Yeah, pump it some more! :P

I hope so too, for your sake. :)

@Vriska: Well, I kind of am. I heard about Watson and said "Ahhh man, dat robot gonna pound dem jep champs!", then I did some looking into it, and thought "Jennings is da man!". However I've been told I second-guess myself too much, and so I switched back to Watson.

I would really like to see the people at IBM's work pay off.

PAPER SPEAKERS WAT:

This is about the IBM Challenge on Jeopardy!, which involves a computer named Watson competing against Ken and Brad, two of the Jeopardy!'s greatest champions. It. Is. Awesome.

In General:

I can't believe that Ken is in last place. I mean, I was rooting for Watson, but this is killing me--it's so surprising!

Seriously, I was amazed at how varied the answers were.

Also I was a little disappointed about how much talking and how little playing there was in the first episode. Thoughts?

They were introducing on how Watson works. It's pretty awesome.

I'm just surprised that Brad is keeping up with Watson. At first, when Watson was up by, like, 3-4 thousand -- I thought that it was going to be a blow out
