That's right folks. The smash hit from last year that got rrrraaaavveee reviews at BrickFair is returning for another season! EW-TV exec EW has decided to fund this wonderful show.

For those of you who don't know much about this, here's the gist. In late 2009, a few members decided to take matters into their own hands and create a T-Shirt specifically for other members, since the staff has their own shirts to distinguish them. The idea was simple: the members design the shirts and then vote on their favorites, encouraging and testing their ideas and imaginations. The winner gets to have his design printed (by Bionicle Raptor) and then sold to anyone who orders them or stops by at the select conventions the shirts will be at!

In addition, there might be some really really cool prizes other than having your shirt produced, but more on that at a later date!

Rules and Regs:

1. Designs can be in any form, really. Use a shirt template, use a blank white square, I don't really care. You can use pretty much any editing software or medium to do it, too! (MS Paint, Sketchbook, GIMP, Photoshop, hand drawn sketch on a paper plate, tattoo on your chest.)

2. Your design should be on either the front or back, but it cannot be on both sides or include the sleeves. Those are both hard to do and more expensive.

3. You can choose any colour you want. We may change it at the production stage, but will try to remain true to your vision. You can choose one colour only and only one colour you may choose!~ More than one will be too expensive. With that in mind, the design should be clear enough for people to see, and you can choose the colour of the shirt. Last year's design was white print on blue and green shirts. It worked well and is like what we want this year.

4. Your designs can be anything you want if it is pertinent to BZPower and/or Bionicle! No restrictions! So long as it follows the above pointers. However, nothing too complex. It won't be disqualified but we will have final say after the polls close.

5. It must be your original design. No Galactic Imperial emblem or Old Spice banners, although integrating Isaiah Mustafa in it is a-ok.

FAQ:

Q: Can I put my name in the design (so people know who made it)?

A: No. Trust me, people will know who made the design.

Q: Are there specific colours we're limited to?

A: No. See rule #3 above.

Q: Can I submit multiple designs?

A: Yes! The more the merrier. Keep in mind that only one design will win in the end, though.

Q: When are all submissions due?

A: See end of entry below.

Q: Do I submit designs here?

A: No. This is the discussion entry. Submissions are to be posted in the Submissions Entry. All submissions in this entry will be deleted.

Q: Can staff submit designs, too?

A: Let me put it this way: If you're in a member group on BZPower, you're able to submit something.

All submissions are due by March 12th. This date is flexible, but it will likely not be any later than that! So what are you waiting for? Get to it! Remember, this is a MEMBER'S T-SHIRT, and it's not possible without the MEMBER'S involvement! :D

Before I enter, I have a few questions:

1. Do we create our shirt design on a template similar to the shirt outline in your entry, or just have it on a normal image with the colored background we would like the shirt to be?

2. What colors are applicable for the shirt color? Are there any specific hex codes we're limited to?

3. Are we allowed to place our name or username somewhere in the design so people know whose design it is?

Awesome. Awesome.

I've only worn last year's shirt once, but it is even more awesome because after I washed it the print faded off some.

@Nova Nebula EW said the entry will be edited with the details later.

1] As long as the design is on a shirt template it should be fine. You will need a native file with the design to be printed with though.

2] The colors are yours to choose but you should limit it to one shirt color and one ink color. Things are expensive if you use multiple inks and such. Plus color really should not be a focal point now. Just work on a great design. Colors will most likely be decided after like they were last year. A good design should come first.

3] I would say that putting your name on the shirt design is unfair. Unless you decide to incorporate every members name on BZPower. Recognition for making a winning design should be good enough.

Everything depends on how fast I can get the supplies and commission my teacher friend to make them.

So I'll need the design soon..... But take your time. :P

Thanks for posting the contest EW. I was getting worried.

Feb 20: Can someone give me a half-decent t-shirt template?

Mar 13: All right. The entry period is over. When do the polls start?

No double posting. Seriously. I'm a little peeved at this. -EW

I understand you probably can't name a price right now because there isn't a winner, but approximately how much would a shirt cost?

Also, if top three get into the 'finals', will the spacing between the votes make a difference?

Say, 1st place had 25 votes, 2nd had 15, and 3rd had 10-- Would you go with 1st because it won by a significant margin? Or does it still rely on Bionicle Raptor to choose the easiest design to print?

No clue. Likely will be higher than last year by a little, though.

Looks like somebody didn't read all the information. :lookhere:

"How does this work?"

You review the list of entries listed below, pick your favourites, and then list the top three, in your opinion, in order that you like them. Once the voting ends at midnight on the 18th, PST, the top three voted entries will be carefully milled over by my staff and I and we will decide on which one to print, based on cost and ease of printing. We will try to adhere to the ranking of the voting, though, so if the #1 winner is easy to make, we'll do it.
