Entry 12 -- Pokemon Black Version

Blessed Blade

Okay, this is more in general than anything.

So, with a new generation, comes a ton of new HM changes, as normal. Three are made normal, and a few make some returns.

But as with Generation 3; you cannot transfer Pokemon with HM Moves.

My question? Why? Surely, Nintendo, with your fancy powers, and your fancy abilities to remove stuff most fans like(Vs Seeker anyone?), as well as add awesome new stuff at the same time; you can actually remove that limitation, and not allow people to somehow obtain a Surf/Flying Pikachu every single generation; and not make people suffer through the slowness of deleting moves in Generation 4, before transferring the Pokemon to Generation 5.

And exactly why is it needed anyhow? It's not like the item removal, which was likely simply to prevent people from getting crafty with sending up obsolete TMs, as both the coding for what it teaches and the actual coding for the TMs was changed. No; the moves still exist. And the HGSS/DPPt dilemma shows that they can easily shift the HM Block flags between games, which they have, Defog, Rock Smash, and Whirlpool are able to be deleted at will. So why do we need to delete the moves before sending them up? >_> It can't be because of the ingame reason(Which has also been obsolete for the past few Generations, ever since you couldn't store the HMs in the PC) of getting stuck; if you have access to put Pokemon in the PC; you have access to the HMs and can easily teach a Pokemon new moves. And if it's because the HMs no longer exist; then exactly how are we able to send up Pokemon with moves from the old TMs?

Generation 6 better not have an HM blocker, Nintendo. If you hand out a Surfing Pikachu or Flying one, I want to keep it. And if Generation 6 is somehow even faster than Generation 5... Then I don't wanna have to spend hours in a slower game just to transfer six Pokemon, like DPPt/HGSS. =P

How does the HM thing matter, really? All of the ones anyone is going to use (i.e. Surf and Waterfall) can be obtained in the 5th Gen, so you can re-teach all of them. I don't see the problem.

The item thing, on the other hand, gets on my nerves. It's totally pointless; they could make it so that Pokemon just can't hold a TM instead of every item.

1. Have you played SoulSilver after playing Black and White? Everything; and I mean everything is slower in comparison. And not to mention the Move Deleter takes ages to actually get to the deletion part... Other than that, it wouldn't matter, aside from those select few event Pokemon who lose their special moves because they're HMs. Case in point: Pikachu. Not that I care about the rodent, it's just annoying to have to get a Surfing 'Chu for every single Generation. =P

2. Yeah; I'm annoyed about that too. >_> Especially because of the berries. I haven't seen a single trace of the EV reducers yet. And that's not a good sign.

As for the berries it gets worse. The only way to obtain them is from the dream world. :/ Not good. My ingame team need to be cleaned for better EV spreads!

But by far my least favorite feature that was removed is the lv. 100 in wifi. It is a game breaker for me. Oh, well 4th gen is still rockin' so I think I'm going to stick with that.

Ankyf: Actually; you get some of them from in-game; but only like maybe 10 to 12.

And oh yes; gah; why did they have to remove that of all things. D= It wasn't doing anyone harm; if anything it was helping people out... =/ 'Least I was training my more competitive team to gain levels before Black and White released. =P

Wait -- they removed the level 100 battle feature? :OMG:

WHY? ;_;

Gamefreak, I am disappoint.

Seriously, folks. Is there at least a flat battle feature like in HG/SS?

Well, then not all is lost. I think that makes my Smeargle's HP so that it has one HP after 4 Subsitutes, as opposed to 100 where it could only make 3 Subs. Besides, open battle with no level rules is still an option (I hope), so if the opponent has level 100s my Pokes will be fine as they are, obviously, at 100.

Really?! Cool. Although, of course you can't planet them which severely cuts their usefulness.

Basically my reaction too. Flat battles are still around thankfully but still...What's worse is whatever gen 5 games they release next probably will lack the lv. 100 battle as well. It's just a sad state of affairs all-round. I've never contemplated cheating before but right now it looks like the only way to save a HUGE amount of time.

ankyf: Don't get too excited; it's only the base berries. =P

Ballom: Yeah; the free level option's still there. But overall; that was my reaction too. D=

About the EV berries: Well, just add those to my list of items to get 999 of with the AR. XD

Also, free level sounds like its still the best option. A lot of people I know of have level 100 Pokemon anyway.

<< >> I'm normally opposed to hacking stuff that's not available; but if it could be considered legit items to others; mind getting me some? =P

Yeah; I've got a few myself. It'll just take a few runs through the League, that's all. =P

Err... Only if it's on there itself. You can only transfer stuff back from the Dream World, aside from Pokemon.

Comparisons have been made to it being the Gen 5 Pokewalker; and I agree. =P

ankyf: I think they were talking about an update that just appeared that allows current ARs to work on Black and White; but I have no clue on that.

Ballom: Yeah... =/ They'll likely get released on the Dream World eventually(If not in Gray); but as it stands now, based on the Japanese Dream World; we've got no EV reducers. Though hey; who knows; they're massively renovating the site, so they may add like 5 new worlds in exchange for everyone having access, and we may get all the EV reducers with it. =P We'll find out in under two weeks.
