A Systematic Project
Apart from Bionicle, my main interest in Lego is trains. Before everyone shouts 'boring', I must say I'm not interested in normal trains. Let me explain...
The stuff I'm interested in are the railways (or railroads, if you're American) created by English cartoonist, Rowland Emett. He's drawn hundreds of funny sketches, involving ridiculous trains that would never work in real life. Everything he drew had a comical, ancient look, as though it would fall apart at any second. I'll upload a couple of his sketches later.
Anyway, over the last few years I've built Lego cities, and displayed them at model shows. I should mention that we don't really have a lot of Lego-based events in the UK, so it's pretty unique to us. Last year, I decided to try and use Emett's designs as a starting point for my railway/road displays, and this year, I'm going to lay it all down on baseboards, instead of tables like I've done previously.
Here are some of the pics of the WIP: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
I'm working on the same scale as the Minilands at Legoland, as I can fit more detail in than normal minifig scale. I've you're interested and haven't died of boredom yet, here's a gallery of my Emett-style trains so far, and here's an old gallery of my older, serious trains.
If you read all that, I'm impressed.
