Have you ever seen the movie The Adjustment Bureau? If you haven't, that's fine by me - it wasn't a very good movie to be honest - but it served as my spark of inspiration for The Committee. In The Adjustment Bureau, members of the eponymous organization wear special hats that allow them to travel quickly via hidden portals. This prompted me to think, "what if people had hats that could give them superpowers?" And voila, The Committee was born.

The Committee centers around five beings from an alternate universe who have been sent to ours to repair a monumental catastrophe. In order to do this, they must brave insurmountable obstacles, face perilous situations, and deal with the malicious plans of an alien marauder named Blight. Fortunately, their mysterious headgear grants them impressive abilities with which to face their foes.

First, there is Skylar "Crash" Johnson, whose stylish Bandanna grants him super-speed and shielding. Next, there is Reginald Parker, whose magnificent Top Hat grants him the powers of flight and telekinesis. The leader of the group, Dalton Pepperidge, wears a Fedora grants him perfect accuracy and heightened reflexes. Pepperidge's best friend and right hand man Douglas McGinty wears the Bowler Hat, which gives him super-strength. Lastly, there is Lester "Goggles" Finnegan, whose aforementioend Goggles grant him genius-level intelligence and control over metal.

The Committee will be a 12-episode miniseries with a focus on plot and character development. Humor will be present, of course, but this isn't meant to be a comedic series. In addition to the characters mentioned, several prominent comic authors will be making cameos - Emkay, Zonis, Kortu, and Nuparurocks, for example. The Committee is set to debut on Feb. 12, 2012.
