Thirteen
Well, I've been listening to Megadeth's 13th studio album non-stop since about... 6:30pm last night. It's pretty freakin' awesome... I'll admit, there are a few songs that are slightly disappointing, but as an album I think it holds up really well with their other stuff.
The remade songs (New World Order, Black Swan, Millennium Of The Blind) are all fantastic. The first two aren't very different from their earlier versions, but some cool stuff was added. The last, however, is an almost completely new song. It's one of two slower chugging songs on the CD, and it's tied with We The People for best song. The old lyrics for the Millennium Of The Blind demo off Youthanasia are the refrain in the middle, and it's odd that the original riff is still used (albeit unnoticably in the background) because that riff was included, sped up, on 1000 Times Goodbye from The World Needs A Hero.
I imagine the album's still going to disappoint many because, well, whiners gonna' whine, but I'm thrilled with it. It really is Youthanasia combined with Endgame, with some of its own flare thrown in, but seeing as those are my two favourite 'Deth albums, it's right up my alley.
