Considering this was my first time vectoring, this didn't turn out too bad.

(Also my first time touching Photoshop in literally months because of my brother's addiction to TF2 <_<)

Time spent: 5 hours (mostly because of Doctor Who and BZP, lol)

Number of layers: 47

Number of colors in the iris to get that gradient: 10

How insane I must have been to have taught myself vectoring for no reason besides just wanting to: Platypus

Looks very cool. Did you start learning how to do this from scratch when you started five hours ago? I've been toying with doing things like this on GIMP (just not pony related) and have not been getting very far.

Very nice! I like it.

Photoshop, you say? Hm, vectoring with photoshop (and GIMP) is kinda like cutting a steak with a spoon. You can do it, but you're better off using another tool better suited for the job.

If you've got Adobe Illustrator, then might I suggest using that. It's specifically designed for vectors. If not, then there are several free vectoring programs you can find online. I've heard Inkscape is good.

Yeah, I've been meaning to do it for a while. I looked up a tutorial to start with, but by the end I didn't need it.

I have Illustrator, it's just that I have no idea how to use it. I'll probably teach myself how to use it sometime, but Photoshop works alright for me.

(Also, I like that analogy)

Nay, echidna.

Here's something I've always wondered about vectoring: how do you get your lines to change width and end in points like that? In GIMP there is no obvious way to do it. Is it just something built into PS that's super easy there?

You can mess with the anchors and tangent lines to get sharp turns and stuff. I don't really know how to explain it, but it's pretty easy.

(This makes me glad I forced my brother off the only comp with PS, lol)

Oh wow ... I wish I knew how to do that in PS. I have it, I'm just a major noob.*raises fist* I must go try to learn! *dies from Photoshop complexity*Anyway, you did a great job! Bravo!

I couldn't have done it without the picture you drew for me. :)

I was actually thinking of vectoring the rest of the ponies you drew. :P I have nothing else to vector, and I don't want to have learned how just for one picture.

Oh man, could you if you were willing? I wanted to ask, but I hate being a prude. It's like when I show my non-pony artwork to other people, their first respone is "I want you to draw me something." So I didn't want to ask. :P

But really, vector any pony of mine you want. :D

Oops.

But I actually want to; for one, it'll force my brother to do something besides Team Fortress 2, and I don't want what I just learned to go to waste. I'll probably start tomorrow, though; boatload of homework today. :/

Oh, I'm so ignorant. I didn't mean you when I said that. *facepalm*

Anyway, I can relate to the homework problems. Get to it whenever you do, it's no rush at all. :)
