That song has been stuck in my head since I heard it over a decade ago.
First off Gaming,
That's right shooter fans... your favorite titles have just been beaten out for Game of the Year by a Sandbox and a Hack and Slash Adventure.
Battlefield 3 gets beaten out by Batman: Arkham City and Call of Duty 3 just got buried by Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.
And no, most copies sold does not, a Game of the Year get awarded to.
I'll tell you why. They did very well. They were very close contenders but you must understand that gaming is an evolving medium. Gamers are not content to keep the same old concept day in and day out. That's how series die. Nothing new and innovative gets added. Same ole' same ole'. Now that's not to say if the recipe doesn't work don't use it. But you might want to change up a little of the content here and there. While Legend of Zelda formula stays the same so you still have a slight idea of what do to, the gameplay has been changed up. Smoother Combat functions, new items and puzzles, A whole new world to explore. More memorable moments with a character.
With that said I am a Mass Effect fan and I actually approve of the new Multiplayer mode. At least from what news I've found out about it. At first glance it looks like a Gears of War Horde mode rip off but from the news I've seen here's what different about it,
One, The character is solely and uniquely yours, no two human soldiers will be the same, no two Asari Adepts will be the same.
Two, exclusively co-op. I like this because that's what REAL warfare is. Working together with your fellow Battle Buddy to ensure the objective is met, and to ensure your survival.
Three, It's NOT solely a survive the enemy waves mode. You will face objectives that must be accomplished, capture and defend point A, kill Enemy B, Survive Mini Boss, Kill said Mini Boss. Computer hack your way into enemy bunker, stealthily eliminate your foes and make a mad dash for the exit.
Four, Your characters may be present in the single player mode. Supposedly the characters you design and create can be recruited by Commander Shepherd in the campaign story. What fan would pass up the chance to have their story told along side that of the game's main character?
My only problem is that so far, no mention of Quarians in multiplayer currently. I'm hoping this is simply an oversight and they simply haven't been added to the beta the imagine staff got to play.
Yes, I REALLY like Quarians. Who doesn't?
Satter finally got back to me so we may start hashing out the comedy startup. Keep an eye out for it!
Oh, almost forgot. Happy Turkey Day! Did you save me some Pumpkin Pie? I really like Pie.
