I started college with no major in mind. I joined my current school because they had a variety of potential majors I thought I might like, plus they offered discounts and such. I took various general requirements classes to experiment and to find what major I liked best. By the end of freshman year I chose Management Information Systems, and don't regret it.

Most colleges should let you join without declaring a major. Many will pressure you to decide upon registration, but rarely will you have to declare one right away. But of course, you don't want to spend too much time with no declared major, or else you'll waste credits on courses that you could wind up not needing in the end.
