Tip For Life #2...

...Never ride to Holcom Valley Scout Camp while conscious.

We had to go to Big Bear in the Mountains to return Archery equipment. The trip took the whole day, as follows:

10:30 am ~ We leave from home

11 ~ "Mom, we've been on the road for a half hour, and those mountains don't look any closer" -TOV

As we traveled up the mountains, we saw perfectly white patches of snow. For a suburban girl who lives WAY below the snow line, it's the most amazing sight. We also drove past a lake, also nice.

1:30-ish ~ We turn on the DIRT ROAD that leads to the Scout camp. There are so many rocks, I do not suggest travelling on this road while aware that your stomach is up to your throat. Dad said that the road was "Nice."

"Nice?" I retorted. "Nice is pavement!"

2 pm ~ the person receiving the archery equipment met us on the road and enthusiastically described the camp's improvements (better showers, new targets, bows, and guns.) He also told us that small earthquakes released an ancient supply of water; then proceeded to gossip with my Dad.

3 ~ Late lunch at a local (for Big Bear) Italian restaurant: pizza.

4 or 5 ~ On the road again -then the breaks get hot.

7:30 ~ "UPLAND!" I exclaimed. We got some meat ball sandwiches at a local (for us) Italian restaurant.

8 ~ Dinner, I surf online and blog here
