They totally changed the plot compared to the books. Sakharine wasn't a bad character in the book; he just honestly wanted the ship for collection purposes. He was also drugged in the book, if I remember correctly. But Sakharine was the main evil character in the movie, but I was fine with that.

They also switched the order. Tintin had already known Haddock before he purchased the ship. But, heck, they did a fantastic job fitting three stories into one movie.
