Goldeneye Revisited

Blessed Blade

Other Titles: All RIGHT!

So... I'm playing over on Archives. I'm shooting people with the shotgun as usual... And then I get killed. HOWEVER! At the exact same time, I fire the shotgun, and get my killer, with a headshot to boot. I love revenge kills. =P

Then, I start playing on the facility... I spawn Bond, and then camp(Yes, I know, I know... *Hangs head*) in one of the ventilation shafts. I keep my safety up with a proxy mine; however, two start to attack. I toss a proxy at them; one moves forward, and blows up both. =P

Then, I'm typing this, right? Well, one of the enemies was a little uh... dumb. He decides to camp in the exact vent I'm in. I decided to give him a nice little pat on the back in return. =)

Well, they thought ahead there... You only get two GL ammo, since it's an attachment.(In fact, grenades in general have been nerfed a bit, since you only get two of the different mines and grenades and such, per spawn)

But yes, yes you could. And I've done it a couple times. xD

You can still kill yourself with your own explosions, though, so I guess that's the balancer. =P

/EDIT: Actually, wait, if I remember the original Goldeneye correctly; you only had two shots for the Rocket Launcher as well, and since the Grenade Launcher is more or less a non-homing Rocket Launcher...

Ah, I see.

Well, again, all of the explosive stuff kinda got nerfed in terms of carry capacity(For good reason for some, like the toobs/GLs, and Proxies)...

Good times playing the N64 version with Rockets, though. xD

Yeah. There was another 64 game made by Rare after Goldeneye that played a lot like Goldeneye, except it had aliens and a few alien weapons, one of which was a manually-controlled seeker missile. I had so much fun nailing targets around five or six corners with that thing.

Oh yeah, Perfect Dark, I've heard about that, but never played it, partly because I a) don't have the game, and b ) don't have an expansion pak. =P Said to be pretty cool, though.

Yeah, it was a great game. There was a feature where you could set up different scenarios in multiplayer. I rather enjoyed one that was against insanely overpowered opponents, because even if you dual-wielded the Golden Gun, it was quite a challenge.

Oh geez, wow. xD Did the Golden Gun give one-hit kills in the originals? I forget, last I played Goldeneye 64 was back in like... October? If not earlier?

Yeah, it's got bots. They can be set on various difficulty levels, and there are several different types of bots based on their behavior, weapon preference, speed and whether they have a shield or not.

Yeah, I played the N64 Goldeneye. Once I got good nobody wanted to play against me, so I switched over to Perfect Dark, devised that sadistic little scenario, and, after about a month, started winning fairly consistently. Then my N64 controllers just sort of died of old age.

Nice. xD My controllers miraculously still work. This is after playing the Banjo games, which have 'wreck your controllers' as a prerequisite for playing the game. =P

Ah, that makes sense; that'd probably not help anything. =P I only have two, and switched them around a lot when I did play it. Now, the only thing wrong with the controllers and system, is that it's gathering dust. =P(OoT getting a 3DS remake didn't help any, nor did Goldeneye Wii. =P)

Ah; well that explains everything then. xD Yeah; you didn't mention Mario Kart 64; that right there would account for a lot of controller abuse. They didn't get tossed around by any chance, did they? =P

Link to comment

Yeah; that is kinda surprising. xD I believe my controllers only lasted as long as they did because I didn't play with anyone typically. Especially not MK64(Though I ragequit from that back when I couldn't play Mario Kart games. It was only lasting patience that made me try MKDS and get hooked to the series. xD).

That and the fact that I don't have the N64 version of Majora's Mask, just the Wii VC one. I did rent it once, though, so I know exactly how it could be a case of damage by usage... Especially with what it did to my GC controller(Though cheap, I'm better that half the reason it's intermittent in working is because of that one game. =P ... That and Brawl, can't forget Brawl.)

Yeah, Majora's Mask could be a bit of a frustrating game at times when I was a kid. I played it again a couple of years ago, ended up getting the Fierce Deity's Mask and stomping every boss flat just for giggles.

I still haven't done the 'curbstomping every boss' part yet; I only curbstomped Majora's Mask. Should be interesting, though. =P

I believe I simply ran around in circles when I first played... I didn't realize you had to go to the forest; kept trying to figure out how to get Epona to jump that fence; didn't even know of a ranch. =P(Nor the fact that you need two dungeons beaten to get Epona in the first place. >>')

Then again, I didn't beat Ocarina until like 5 years after I first played it... At one point, I couldn't even get out of the Deku Tree. -_-' Not my finest moment, that's for sure, but how was I supposed to know those Deku Sticks were able to burn, at the time? It was the first 3D Zelda I had played, after all. =P

Link to comment

Ocarina was the first Zelda game I played, period. Gohma was the scariest boss I'd seen in a game up until that point, and it actually took multiple tries for me to beat it when I first played that game.

...

Granted, I was about five, but still.
