Skyrim Adventure, Part 16: In Which I Play Portal

HAZMAT

I set out for Morvunskar in search of Sam, the man I got drunk with. After some uneventful journeying, I arrived to find the place being besieged by a dragon. I took this opportunity to pick off the mages, who were distracted by the dragon. The dragon flew off during the skirmish, but I managed to beat the remaining enemies without any trouble.

Inside, I get to a large chamber and find myself not so fortunate. After many unsuccessful attempts to beat the 5 or so mages in the room, I decided to try out BEAST MODE. With a perfectly timed roar I managed to survive, my health almost zero. I killed the toughest enemy, a Cryomancer (which apparently was about 15 levels higher than me at that time, hence the difficulty), and ate the body to get back some health. With a bit more perfectly timed roaring, I killed the rest without taking too much damage.

After looting the place, I returned to the large room and approached a large sphere of energy labeled “To Misty Grove.” I stepped into it and teleported to some serene area. I checked the map and it still said I was in Morvunskar; perhaps this is some sort of pocket dimension? Sam was there, and he revealed himself to be a Daedric Prince. I seem to be meeting a lot of those lately. He gave me his staff and sent me on my way.

(note to UK: apparently I missed more of the quest than you thought)

The next quest I decided to tackle was a Companion quest, tasking me with locating some Silver Hand plans. On my way there I came across a Blood Dragon. It was one of those dragons who like to never land; how rude. I took cover under a rock overhang and slung Firebolts at it. Eventually, it landed and I killed it. Collecting another soul made me realize I haven't found a shout in awhile.

I arrived at the cave and went in. I took this opportunity to level up my sneak and archery with some masterful bow work. The leader gave me some trouble, but everything gets easier when you FUS ROH DAH people into a corner. I also picked a Master locked chest while I was there.

After exiting, I saw a fort nearby and decided to check it out. A mage told me not to approach, so I backed off...

Then I went into sneak mode and shot her in the head with an arrow. She wasn't happy, but after a quick battle she was down. I cleared out the rest of the mages without much difficulty. There was nothing of interest there.

I returned to Whiterun and turned in; Aela informed me Kodlak wanted to speak with me. He told me that he wanted to be cured of Lycanthropy, and I agreed to help.

I'm running low on sidequests; I'm not sure if I want to wrap them up, continue the main quest, or go exploring. I'm leaning towards exploring, as I'd like to head to Riften; it has the best house apparently. The sooner I move in, the less junk I will need to move from my old house.

I feel bad for you Haz, I really do. Here's what happens when you do what Ysolda tells you in the drunk quest:

To actually get the ring back, you travel to a hut filled with dead animal heads on pikes and a Hagraven named Moira in the middle. When you approach, she says something along the lines of, "Darling, you've finally come back. I've been waiting for your return so that we can consumate our love," in her gross, deep, serpentine, raspy Hagraven voice.

Your character responds, "Um, I'm going to have to ask for that ring back." And the Hagraven says, "What?! You're leaving me for that hussy Esmeralda with the black feathers, aren't you? Well I won't let her have you!" And then she attacks with melee only.
