I talked to Aela after returning the Totem, hoping we would set out after another. Instead, she wanted me to help citizens of Markarth. Apparently a Snow Bear had gotten into the Warrens.
I fast traveled there, killed it with ease, and fast traveled back.
She told me some people had requested the Companions clear out a cave. I made it to the cave to find it inhabited by a single Troll. I killed it and returned.
I was getting tired of these pointless quests, so I asked Vilkas if he needed anything. He told me about an escaped prisoner. I found him wandering a nearby road. I was hoping to solve things peacefully, but he attacked and I retaliated.
I went back to Vilkas, he told me there was a kidnapped citizen who needed rescuing.
On my way there I stopped by a Giant camp and went in the cave. After a few lives (he could kill me in 2 hits!) I was triumphant over the Giant inside. I looted the chest and found a strange item. After picking it up, a disembodied voice tasked me with returning it somewhere. I'm going to guess this is another Daedric Prince(ss).
I left the cave and saw a Dragon circling above. He eventually got close enough for me to hit him with Fireballs. He died easily enough.
I continued on and came upon a strange sight. There were some destroyed pillars, rotational puzzle things, and a chest under a grate. After looking around I bit I noticed the solution, set the pieces, and the grate opened. Nothing of interest in the chest other than a Destruction skill book.
I made it to the cave where the kidnapped was being held. I fought my way through skeletons, which took a single Ice Spike per. Apparently skeletons' levels don't scale. There was a Necromancer in the final room; she destroyed me. A lot. Eventually I beat her with a well timed FUS ROH DAH. I returned the woman to Whiterun and talked to Aela again. She had found another Totem.
It was located at a place that I had already cleared, but the enemies had respawned of course. I couldn't quite remember what had happened here. As soon as I stepped inside I heard a familiar voice. It couldn't be... could it?! As I continued onward I had finally remembered, it was the place with a portal to Misty Grove. I made it to the large chamber and there he was, fighting a mage. My old buddy Sam aka the Daedric Prince Sanguine. Unfortunately, he didn't have anything to say. And here I had thought we had something special.
I snagged the Totem and left. 2 down, 1 to go.
