Skyrim Adventure, Part 26: In Which I Escape The Labyrinth

The librarian informed me that the book we need happened to be stolen when a student left to join a cult. I headed to their hangout.

Inside I fought my way through mages. Guess their member count is taking quite a dive this time of year hehehe. I made it to the final chamber where the leader, The Caller (what a lame name), was hanging out with the books. I persuaded her to let me take them and be on my way instead of fighting. I grabbed the books, then killed her anyway. WHOOPS

When I arrived back at the College, I saw that they had brought the orb, the Eye of Magnus, back and placed it in the main hall. The mysterious man from before had come to the college to speak to me and tell me what needed to be done about the orb, but was very vague. I payed a visit to the College's basement to speak to some past mage that disappeared decades ago, or something. I heard a spooky voice talk to me. In the final room was a big ol' glowing orb of light. Skyrim seems to have a lot of those. It told me I needed to find the Staff of Magnus. I ask around and find out about an expedition to find the Staff. I went outside and was greeted by an Elder Dragon. Man these things are tough. With the help of another mage, it was killed.

I arrived at the ruins and went inside, only to hear a mage utter his last words. I fought my way through Dwarven bots, Falmer, and Chaurus (OP, nerf please), finding several more dead mages. Eventually I fought against a CENTURION MASTER. Jokes on him, I can heal about as fast as he damages me. I destroyed it without any trouble and made it to the final room.

One of the mages was still alive! He didn't trust me, as I was from the College, but still let me help. In the final room there was a light beam puzzle that took me quite awhile to figure out. The beams didn't move as I thought they would have. After finally solving it, a map was projected on the wall, revealing the staff to be in Labyrinthian. I had found the place before but didn't go in, which ET said was a good thing because I couldn't handle it. Hopefully I can handle it now. On my way out, the mystery man appeared again to chat.

I arrived back at the College to tell them about the staff; Ancano, a Thalmor, had projected some sort of shield around himself and the orb. The Arch-Mage was able to break it down and we approached the Elf. He killed the Arch-Mage and knocked me out. I was brought to by Mirabelle, the second in command, and told I was needed in Winterhold. She would attempt to stop Ancano. I made it to town to find it filled with Magical Anomalies, hostile balls of energy. With some help from other mages, they were defeated and turned into Jell-O.

I fast traveled to Labyrinthian and fought a Dragon. I entered into a dome and found a mysterious wooden mask. I put it on and appeared to travel back in time. I was locked in the room, but it was no longer destroyed. There was a statue of several hooded figures that could be interacted with, but I didn't have the items. I took it off to return to the present.

I entered the dungeon. There were ghosts of mages, including the current Arch-Mage. In the first room I ended up fighting Skeletons (some tougher than others, and here I thought they were forever weak) and a SKELETAL DRAGON. Unfortunately for him, he was crazy weak. It took a whole 5 sword slashes to kill.

In the next room, a voice speaks in another language and drains all my magicka. I fought a Frost Ghost, then burnt down his ice door (later on I would face a Flame Ghost and would freeze his door to open it).

As I continued on, he switched to English; it seemed he had me confused for someone else.

I came across GHOST DRAUGR. Because why just be dead when you can be dead twice? They had cool spectral weapons, too.

I learned the word for Slow Time. Apparently it slows time for me too (though not as much), which reduces its usefulness. I get to the final chamber and kill two mage ghosts, which released the creature that they were keeping trapped. This thing, Morokei, had the Staff, and attacked me when I got near. I killed him and took his mask for myself. On my way out, a Thalmor working with Ancano tried to kill me. I made short work of him.

I went back to the mask room and traveled back in time. There, I placed Morokei's mask in its place.

I returned to the College and used the staff to break through Ancano's shield. I killed him with glee, he was rude. I was made Arch-Mage.

I took this opportunity to explore the Midden beneath the college. There was some sort of summoning area with an offerings box and receptacle. I didn't have whatever was needed to place there. There was also a Daedric gauntlet with the Oblivion symbol on it. I read a nearby journal and discovered there were 4 rings on it that were confiscated. I stole the rings and brought them there. I placed them on the hand, and it clenched. It summoned four skulls which then combined and summoned a Dremora. He wanted to make a deal: tell me about a treasure stash and all I had to do is free him. I don't want a Dremora running around freely, so I killed him and took his heart.

Next I did a quest for the librarian, to find some lost book. I got to the cave, it was filled with Falmer and Chaurus. I made it through without much difficulty and took the book back.

Next I decided to help another student out and get back a family pendant he had sold. The guy he sold it to wanted something in return: to fetch a staff he had gotten rid of and now wanted back. How ironic.

It turns out whoever he sold the staff to liked to enchant spiders. What a weirdo. I fought my way through them, killed the guy, grabbed the staff, traded it for the amulet, and everyone lived happily ever after.

Morokei was my first Dragon Priest. I found him to be a tough opponent. :shrugs:

I also must be stupid for completely missing a mask wall?? o_O

Maybe you were a lower level when you fought him? I'm like level 45 right now.

There's a dome outside Labyrinthian. It's in there.
