Twong?

Heh, Twong is a card game. Some of you may have heard of it.

The rules of the game are to have 2 teams of 2 people, and a dealer. Four cards are handed to each person then the card on the bottom of the deck is shown so if anyone has that card, the person throws away the card. After that, the actual game begins. You have to switch out cards from the 5 that were put on the table, aka - floor. You can switch cards with your partner if you'd like, but it would be sheer luck if you got the card you needed from your partner. The point of the game is to have a set of 4 kinds of the same card, number wise (ie- 4 three's, 4 jack's, etc.). You have to be extremely clever and very witful. Signs of any kind are allowed. Like today, I used a sniffle from my cold that I have or I would move my 4 cards from left hand to my right hand. You have to get your partner's attention. I would say "Anyone got any 10's?" My partner looked up and we won that game when he said Twong. You have to say Twong if you think that your partner has 4 of a kind. The other team is allowed to say Counter Twong if one of them thinks the other team has 4 of a kind but his/her partner doesn't know. They are only allowed to say Counter Twong twice. If they are wrong both times, they can't say it again.

From my experience, the game never lasts more than 5 minutes, but it can be possible to last that or longer.

The reason I've posted this is because my school banned it at 10:45 a.m. When a memo was passed to all of the teachers. It really isn't fair because..

  • Juniors and Seniors are all out on their Washington D.C. trip, so all of the teachers lightened their lessons by a LOAD.
  • Since there were nothing much to do, the students would play this to keep themselves pre-occupied until we had to go to our next class.
Apparently, the staff thinks this game "mocks gambling." I thought mocking was an insult from my understanding. And of course, NONE of us have even mentioned gambling. I mean that 100%. The staff is seriously over-reacting, and as a result, so did some of the students... So some of the students were sent home today >.>

Anyway, that's all that happened today.
