I'm at my grandmother's house at the moment, so I can properly respond.

Essentially, one single measly fiber-optic cable got cut, and Internet access for everyone services by the provider got cut. They have since fixed the cut, but from what I can glean from the overrun technical support line, a lot of modems got fried.

Including ours.

Oh my.

Sometimes my houses internet will go out, and the provider doesn't put it back on for hours, just after small technical problems.

An outage of a few hours is nothing compared to not having it for over half a week.

Either way, the issue is resolved now. Hooray!
