Thick Or Thin?

A question to all artists and those who love doing super-spontaneous doodles:

do you prefer fine-tipped pens or those which leave thicker lines for spontaneous scribbles?

I like both, but for different things.

The thin lines are great for a scribbly scribbly style, which may look messy, but also has some interesting scratchy qualities when it comes to textures.

The bold lines appear much smoother, and IMO create an overall more cartoonish look.

They're also a lot better for bigger dark areas.

...

So, enough from me, what do you guys think? :)

Well, I may not draw much, but when I do doodle I always use a thicker black pen. I guess something about it just makes the doodles look better for me.

I also like drawing in tribal style when doodling, and a thick pen is definitely better for those, but that's just because of the art style more than anything else.

Mhm, I see what you mean... and whoa, I wish I could do tribal style, but sadly it never really worked for me... xD

I use a pencil. :P

So do I but sometimes pen sketches are more fun ;3

Biro is my baby.

I dunno where that falls in though, I guess it's fine-tipped-er than those properly thick pens. I'm not very learned in the world of pens :P

Fine-tipped, because it's easier to do details, and not to mention that I always work with a pencil. I've never done ink sketches, mainly because I'm always needed to fix things before I'm finally satisfied with it.

Thicker lines do give a nice, clean cartoon look, but I've never been able to work with strictly markers and nothing else.
