A Question For You PС Gamers

So I was wondering:

In order to play modern games, (e.g. Skyrim, Assassin's Creed...) do I need Windows 7?

Or can I run most games with XP?

I haven't used a Windows PC since before Vista came out, so I'm a little out of the loop on such things. :P

Some games don't support Windows XP anymore, and the trend is likely to become more popular once 8 is out.

Also 7 is the better OS overall, so you really should get it (I'm assuming this entry is about getting a PC with Windows).

Check the system requirements. Most of the time they still support XP.

HOWEVER, XP does not support DirectX 10 and up, and DX9 is rapidly becoming obsolete. So if you can get something newer, definitely do so.

Sooner or later the current Windows 7 PCs will go down in price with Windows 8 coming out, so I say hold out until then.

So I can use XP for the time being, but I should upgrade to 7 ASAP?

I'm just saying, cause I already own XP, and don't feel like shelling out for a new OS just yet.

Then again, you might want to wait until W8 comes out and then get W8. :P Windows 7 is infiinitely better than XP though, so it would definitely be worth your time.

Windows 8 is shaping up to be terrible. They're focusing too much on tablet features.

You could do that, but it would be much ore expensive.

Also are you planning to get a brand new computer with W7 or install the OS over XP? You can do the latter, but it's very complicated and I don't really recommend it.

I have to agree with Haz. Would it be good to have the cutting edge of OS systems? Sure. But they're focusing too much on the tablet market and Metro, even for the desktops, so...

I do agree that 7 would be worth an upgrade, if only because it might just go hand in hand with 'new computer' which I recommend for a gaming PC. =P(Trust me, I know, after years of having to pass over games. =/)

W8 looks good to me, but it's definitely ... different.

that's another reason to stick to W7 for now. Don't trust a new OS as soon as its released. Look what happened to Vista. :P
