Frin-Eh...supernatural Friday, R2-D2, Ect.

Hey, folks. I am here again upon more this Friday to give you guys another TV show post-hype entry. But unfortunately like my previous entries, this one is not about FRINGE. Why is that? Because FRINGE is done until the fall season starts up, so obviously I could not have been watching FRINGE today.

I did however watch another favorite show of mines this Friday and that was Supernatural, which is a show that very rarely get to see when it actually airs since I tend to favor watching FRINGE more. By no means does that mean this is not a good show though, I personally loved Supernatural for its characters, story, humor, and their portrayals of supernatural creatures. It is just that FRINGE kind of pulls me in because I have been following since the very beginning (I am season 1 veteran. While with Supernatural, I did not get into it until late into season 2.).

I will say this though. This show is not for everyone and I have no doubt that it probably has offend someone out there somewhere with portrayals of some stuff. And well, it is with that in mind and my general no spoiler policy to not speak or rather write too much about this episode in detail. It is a precaution that I feel is necessary, so I hope you all understand.

Alright, so about the episode itself, I thought it did very good job ending off this season with its cliffhanger to lead us into season 8 next fall. I do feel it kind of rehash season 3 ending plotline, but obviously in a different context.

I think the scene that stands out the most in my mind has got to be Bobby's send off, which I am personally really hoping is not true and he is somehow able to come back later in season 8 because I can't really picture a season without him. Not only that, but I think this season has been harsh enough on the boys as it is with loss of so many of their friends.

That's just wishful thinking though and I have no doubt the Supernatural writers will find a way to make things worst for them as they always seem to top the previous season conflict somehow. Of course, if they didn't, then we wouldn't really have a show since the conflict is what fuels the story and keeps it going. *shrugs*

And well, that's about all that I am going to say about the Supernatural finale. In other news, I got my R2 Unit yesterday and I apparently was able to complete it in about 6 hours. lol Yeah, I know some of you guys probably could finish it in less time than that, but I wasn't trying to speed build it. And in my defense, some of the parts blend in with one another, so I was staring sometimes just looking for a piece (I did not take the time to sort pieces.).

But anyway, it was quite a fun building experience for me and I personally think that LEGO designer deserve mad props for all the features, he or she incorporated into the model. I will proudly be putting this up on display somewhere in the basement when I clean the place up at some point this summer. I also maybe doing a post-build review if you guys really want. Oh, and here is proof that I actually have the set. Yeah, I know my hair cut is awful and I am ugly looking, but just pay attention to R2 in the photo, not me, and you should be fine.

In video game related news, I unfortunately did not get to play Pokemon Black today, but I might play it during this weekend. I am also strangely in the mood to play some Kingdom Hearts, so I may or may not be playing KH I on our PS2 tomorrow. Actually now that I am thinking about it, I also kind of want to play Kid Icarus some more, so I may be playing a bit of that as well tomorrow. *shrugs* Either way, I am going have something to talk about tomorrow, I guess.

Alright, that's all I got for today. Thanks for taking to time to read this and I hope you all have a good day. Good Night, BZPers.

I'd love Bobby to still be around, but to come back again would cheapen that moment. And he was a ghost, they burned his tether. I want him to stay gone.

I thought Dean stranded somewhere and Sam alone felt familiar... It's also happened in reverse with - I believe - season 5's ending.

I also thought it was really interesting that I'm pretty sure Dean's been everywhere now - Earth, down below, "a" heaven, and now Purgatory. Just thought that was cool.

The cliffhanger was certainly that. I have no idea where it's going to go now.

Woot, more Supernatural fans!

I haven't watched the finale yet so I didn't actually thoroughly read your post (sorry), but did anyone feel like this season was just... insultingly bad? I feel like less than half the episodes were devoted to the Leviathans, and even when they are featured they're never really doing anything exciting. Mostly just making political jabs and really bad puns about eating people. I'm convinced that the writers had absolutely no idea where they wanted the season to go, and so we get a half-baked story about Bible beasts who, for some reason, need to set up this massive operation just to eat people. I was happy when Bobby died in the middle of the season because it was something the writers could have used to accelerate the story, but instead it stayed at a standstill.

And WHERE WAS THE IMPALA? :(

I'm hoping season 8 goes for a smaller scale story. End of the world is fun and all, but not when we've been dealing with end-of-the-world plots since season 4. I much prefer the season 1 structure, where it's mostly episodic but still contains a bit of story to thread it together. Also bring back the Impala. And get rid of demons. And angels. They had their moments in the sun, and now I think the show should just go back to basics.

But that's just my two cents.

Yeah, now that I think about it some more, I kind of have to agree with you there. Bobby returning would very much cheapen that moment, so I am going to be alright with him being gone. I will miss him though.

Hm...Yeah, that is true. I never thought of it being that way.

As for your thought about Dean, technically Castiel has been to all those places as well and the only place that Sam has not been is Purgatory, so he is not that special. Of course, since Dean is our main leading character, it is a first look into Purgatory, so I do see what you mean there.

And yeah, I have no idea where we are going now either.

lol You don't need to apologizes for skimming the entry, dude. I understand completely why you did it since you don't want to get spoil about stuff. I do generally try to avoid posting spoilers though. Although admittedly I do let some slip through and can't really censor the comments of spoilers. Well, actually I could, but it would be derailing possible discussions that I could have with the person. *shrugs* But yeah, its perfectly fine that you skim my post.

But anyway, I actually did not think this season was really that bad. Although that's probably because I like the thought of Leviathans, especially their leader, being like chessmasters in sort of Lex Luthor way, who have the forethought to know that if they draw too much attention to themselves by eating everyone in sight than they will set off the natives (humans) to actively go after them. And as little of a threat as we are to Leviathans, we are inventive enough of species to figure out something to take them out, especially when we are focus on such a goal for our own survival.

As for your hopes for season 8, I kind of doubt they are going to go more smaller scale since the show is kind of in the mentality that they have to constantly up the scale to make the threat even worst than the previous seasons. Or at least, that's what I been seeing of it.

I do think that return to more episodic episodes would be nice though. And I am pretty sure the Impala will be back next season since Sam will probably be using it to get around. As for the removable of demons from the show, that's unlikely considering this season finale. You will know what I mean when you watch the episode. As for angels, they were pretty much completely gone this season, so I can't see them playing a big part in next season.

And that was my two cents back.

The only particular chance at Bobby returning lies in the fact that Cas was watching as they finally laid his spirit to rest. Could have just been to drive home for him that all of this realistically is in fact his fault, but there's still the chance that he can do something about it eventually. Also I suppose it's possible that vengeful spirits actually end up in Purgatory, who knows?

That said, I'm hoping Purgatory actually remains a relevant location beyond the first episode or two of season 8; I'm always for more non-humanoid monsters (and really, even to see some "normal" monsters in Purgatory will be extremely enjoyable). Assuming that when Cas killed all of the Alphas they all ended up in Purgatory (heck, maybe the Alpha Vamp knows how to get in too) it could be fun to see all of that. Plus, Crowley presumably still wants to actually conquer it; that was his plan of Season 6, after all, Season 7 was really just a large speed bump in the overall process. So there's all this potential to keep coming back to Purgatory.

Hm...You do have a point there and I kind was thinking that we might see Bobby in Purgatory as we really don't know what happens when you refuse to move on when it is your time, so Bobby might have lost the right to enter the traditional afterlife. I am kind of inclined to say now that I would be alright if this was truly it for Bobby since he went out on his own terms and all, thus accepting his mortality.

As for the Purgatory stuff, I would like to see that happen too as it would be interesting to see what Crowley's game plan is and it would be nice to see some of the monsters that boys slay over the years trying to strike back at them. It also be nice like you said to see some non-humanoid monsters in the mix. I do have to wonder though how Dean is going to survive in there.

Yeah, seeing some old enemies (and allies, too; they made the occasional monster friend) would be just fantastic. There's still the lingering bit about Amy, Sam's girlfriend-monster from the beginning of the season; she could easily want to chomp on Dean.

I assume he'll get some help from Cas, who was looking decidedly less nutso crazy while in Purgatory, but we'll see.

Marathoned both the Fringe and Supernatural finales tonight. So many cliffhangers. Thoughts on Supernatural:

Non spoilers: I actually enjoyed this episode a lot. I like the new direction the writers are going to go with season 8, and hope that they use it to the best possible advantage.

Also, you are correct. Angels were not involved much this season at all and, in retrospect, I wasn't bothered as much by their presence. I just meant that I want the story to focus less on the religion based characters and more on the regular beasties. I know season six tried to do this, but I don't think it was pulled off successfully.

Spoiler version:

I enjoyed the episode, and Season 8 looks like it might have a bit of what I hoped for. Dean being stuck in purgatory with non humanoid monsters leaves lots of room for the writers to bring back those season 1 beasts that I loved so much, and probably add more. Hopefully this is something that lasts much of the season, because once Dean gets out the story just becomes another 'stop the Big Bad from taking over the world' (with some purgatory related side story I'm sure).

About Bobby: His send off was beautiful. I assumed that he would become the Big Bad for S8, but I prefer what was done here. I'm hoping he stays gone, but the writers have a history of not letting characters stay dead. So I'm not really optimistic.

Also: IMPAALLLAAAA!!!!! This was literally the best part of the episode.

@Dorek: Yeah, I could so see the Amy thing happening next season considering how fresh it is in our minds.

True, Cas will probably be helping him survive. He did disappear on him though at the end of this episode, so I guess we will just have to wait and see.

@V1P2: I would love to hear your thoughts on FRINGE finale, by the way. :)

Yeah, I am hoping they take advantage of this new direction too since I think it would be be pretty cool to see, especially with the possibility of seeing some old monsters along with new ones in the mix being involved. One can only hope they will stick with purgatory being a setting next season.

Yeah, I agree I think Bobby's send off was good and like I been saying in previously comments, I am alright with him not return next season. I would not complain though if he did reappear since as whole I like his character about as much as the boys.
