My opinion on some of the movies I've seen this year.

I know some of these movies came out months ago, but since I don't know what to blog about today, I thought I'd give my opinion on them. (In no particular order)

The Avengers: Easily one of the best superhero movies I've ever seen. Everyone in it got some screen time, with the exception of Hawkeye. But even he had his cool moments. Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and everyone else in this also were amazing with their characters. This is, IMO, Marvel's best movie yet.

Side note: It was also the first midnight movie premiere I've been to, as well as the first films I've seen in 3D since Sky Kids 3.

Chronicle: I thought this was a very good movie. Using the 'found footage' way of filming (similar to Cloverfield), this movie shows what three teenagers do when they gained the power of telekinesis. Unlike Peter Parker or Superman, these guys use their powers like most teenagers would, causing ahem on a lot of unsuspecting people. All three of the guys who play the teenagers do a good job in this movie. Especially Dane DeHaan (Andrew), who turns bad as the film progresses. Starting out as a funny movie but then turning into dark one at the end, Chronicle is a great that should be seen by anyone who is a fan of superhero movies.

Prometheus: This doesn't take the top spot on my 'favorite movies of the year' list, but I still think its enjoyable. It doesn't answer all the questions it asks, which might frustrate some people. And some characters don't really get a lot of screen time, which kind of makes it hard to care about them when things begin happening to the group. But the characters of Noomi Rapace (Elizabeth Shaw), Michael Fassbender (David), and Charlize Theron (Meredith Vickers) all do good jobs with their roles. The special effects are great too. In the end, I do recommend this movie. Just don't expect to get the answers to all the movie's questions.

Side note: When the credits at the screening that my Dad and I saw started roling, everyone in the theater got up and walked out in silence. Seriously, no one spoke at all as we left. It was actually kind of funny. :P

The Amazing Spider-Man: Definitely better than the abomination known as Spider-Man 3, this movie is a reboot of the Spider-Man movie franchise. Andrew Garflied (Peter Parker/Spider-Man) does a great job in this movie. Emma Stone (Gwen Stacy) and Rhys Ifan (Dr. Curt Conners/The Lizard) are good as well. Spider-Man has more a comedy side to him in this one, kind of like he is in the comics. Also, the actions scenes are great too.

One complaint I have about this movie is that it retells how Peter became Spider-Man. The events do fold out kind of differently than they did in the 2002 Spider-Man, but we all pretty much know how he becomes Spider-Man by now. Of course, one might argue that they showed it just in case someone who watched this movie didn't know how he turned into the web-slinger. The 2008 Hulk movie, however, dealt with showing how Bruce became the Hulk by showing what happened to him with a quick montage of footage in the first five minutes of the movie. I think they could've done something similar with Amazing Spider-Man, but oh well. But still, I think this is an enjoyable movie that starts Spider-man's new trilogy really well. (though Spider-Man 2 is still the best Spider-Man movie, IMO)

The Dark Knight Rises: See my preivous blog entry to see what I thought of it. *Hint. I loved it.* :)

Well, these are the only movies I remember seeing so far this year. I did see John Carter too, but I don't remember a lot of it. (I do remember enjoying it though)

So, what did you guys think of these movies?
