Mine is the same style. I have white gold with an onyx as the gem, only because my birthstone is an amethyst (purple), and I didn't feel like joining everyone else with the sapphire (cuz blue is our school color).

I thought about getting a class ring when I was in highschool, but they were really expensive, and I figured it would just end up in a drawer or something, so I didnt get one. I did get a letter jacket though.........
