Finally tried out boxing tonight, and while A. I'm scared to death of brain damage and B. don't have the mean streak in me to punch someone else even with their consent, so I'm not interested in actually fighting, it was a fun way to get some upper-body work and cardio in. Hoping to make it a more regular thing. Apparently I have a really mean right hook for someone that's never boxed before, and considering how scrawny my arms are right now, it's getting nothing but meaner.

 

On a more practical note, I did the last two exercises the doctor wanted me to do to clear my leg. First off, guys, always make sure you're walking forwards on an elliptical machine. Five minutes backwards is tougher than twenty-five forwards. Also, never do cardio in jeans. Second, everything went smoothly with the exercises, so all signs point to me being a checkup away from being 100% cleared.

 

Now then, I'm smelly and sweaty, so if you'll excuse me, I need to go clean up.

Seriously though, I considered just taking a boxing class for the workout as well. It looks healthy and fun even if you never plan on actually use it. But if you find yourself midnight in downtown, you at least won't be completely unprotected.

 

Because who avoids downtown on Saturday nights, I mean really?
