So, I was working on my novel last night when This awesome series of quotes came to me... There's a character I've added named Bomi the Summoner, and he's a wizard who basically acts as a conservationist on the continent of Mageddon. He has a pocket universe in which he lives with all the animals (and some humans and other races) that he's rescued, which is covered in verdent growth and vines, and somehow has a strong bond with Elek. Elek respects the man... Here's a set of quotes from Bomi and Laurenne...

 

Bomi: "Fine, I guess you can stay. But don't touch anything!"

 

Laurenne: "That was rude! How could you speak to us that way!?

 

Bomi: "I was talking to Elek..."

 

Laurenne (to Elek): "You're right... He does know you..."

Sounds very interesting. I like to look at the differences between the way I and other people write novels...even though yours is presumable fantasy as well, it seems very different to mine.

Thanks. I'm working on making a fresh and new type of fantasy. I'm pulling away from the old steriotypes set by most fantasy novels now-a-days...

You are gonna change the names before the final draft, correct? I mean, anyone on this site can tell where you got Elek from and I don't have to be a historian or a South American to know where "Mageddon" comes from (or is that one a coincidence?)

Huh... I thought I made up Elek... I messed around with my own first name until I came up with something I liked... I guess I will have to change it... Rats, I liked that name... And I looked up Mageddon a while ago... From what I understood, it was a mythological battlefield where the final battle of the Apocolypse was supposed to take place... Grr...

Weird. I thought it was directly from Ehlek. O.o And Mageddon is probably fine. It probably won't remind anyone else of what it reminded me of. For some reason it just reminded me of the Portuguese explorer Magellan. But yeah, I think you should change Elek.

I know... I freaked out when I saw Ehlek pop out of the blue... I really don't want to change it... But I may have to, in the end... Dang it... That ticks me off...

Names are the hardest part. I love it when you can type one you've made up into Google and get no hits...but when you think you've got a good one and it ends up with loads of results, it's depressing.

Exactly... I have a plethera of names in my book already... I even have to change Gorgorath's name because there is a band named that... Grr... I liked that name...
