An Omega Adventure: Part 3-Brawly Down and Magma Rising

(author note, I forgot to do some profiles last post, so I'll add them to the current list of Pokemon Acquired)

In no time at all, Jim was already at Dewford. The young boy thanked Mr. Briney as both of them wished each other good luck. First things first, Jim took time to explore the small town, talking to everyone in it. One child in particular rambled about how Potion Festivals were the hip and 'in' thing, asking the trainer in the making if they were hip at his hometown too. Jim answered no, and when questioned what was the in thing, shrugged and suggested Tiny Mushroom-dexes out of nowhere. Suddenly the boy began to ramble about how he knew about those all along, despite Jim having made it up on the spot. Entering the house next to him provided an even stranger situation, where everyone obsessed over Tiny Mushroom-dexes, despite Jim having only coming up with the term a few seconds back.

.....And so he chose to ignore the rather... Strange inhabitants of Dewford, and headed to Route 106 to train. There he encountered several more Pokemon to catch, from fishing outside to exploring Granite Cave.

Pokemon Acquired!-Buffshroom the Shroomish

Lacking arms doesn't mean Buffshroom isn't a tough little Pokemon! Such strength can be be attributed to his hardy nature, as he always perseveres and never lets up, whether battling or running around. Being inside the PC gives him both plenty of space to run around in, and a wide variety of Pokemon to spar with. Buffshroom couldn't be any more ecstatic!

Pokemon Acquired!-Maddie the Taillow

Maddie doesn't think things through most of the time, and is in fact rather hasty. Another element for her lack of foresight is her pride in her power, believing she can take on anything that gets in the way. Despite both these attributes, the Taillow is actually a fairly pleasant Pokemon to be around, and has in fact befriended Major.

Pokemon Acquired!-Bark the Nincada

Bark is a very relaxed Pokemon. Almost nothing bothers her and she's yet to lose her temper. Even her mischievous isn't acted upon, as she simply laughs if an amusing situation happens to someone around her. For that reason, it's hard for Pokemon to hate her, yet they aren't entirely able to bring themselves to like her either.

Pokemon Acquired!-Batmon the Zubat

No matter his efforts, Batmon is not a very good vigilante. Being as mild as he is makes it hard to be threatening in any capacity. Despite this, his will to win is strong, and he doesn't take losses lightly. Perhaps with time, Batmon will become more effective at his self-chosen occupation, but that has yet to be seen.

Pokemon Acquired!-Sabrina the Abra

Sabrina has an overall quirky feel. She can often be heard muttering strange things, about dolls or childhood or other things. The other Pokemon are also frightened at her quick temper, as asking about the quirks usually ends badly. For now, Sabrina is one Pokemon that is usually ignored.

Pokemon Acquired!-Bumomomo the Makuhita

Bumomomo! Bumomomo! This Makuhita shouts his name often while training, making it hard to forget what he's called. Said training isn't for naught, as it helps him perform better when rashly throwing himself into battle. In stark contrast to Bumomomo's incredible girth, running is by far his preferred exercise.

Pokemon Acquired!-Claus IV the Minun

Claus is jolly and has a sunny outlook at life. She loves making friends and having fun. When the going gets tough, Claus has the perseverance to push through such difficult situations. Anyone who befriends her gains a loyal, reliable ally.

Pokemon Acquired!-LightningDog the Elektrike

In contrast wirh his fellow Electric-type, LightningDog acts carefully, be it meeting new Pokemon or otherwise. This doesn't stop him and Claus from being good friends regardless, as both share an incredible tenacity for tough situations. Turns out opposites DO attract!

Pokemon Acquired!-Skullkraken the Magikarp

Magikarp are seen as pathetic and worthless, but Skullkraken doesn't let this get him down. It wouldn't be right for such a jolly Pokemon to get upset over the thoughts of others, after all! And once more, another prankster enters the fray. What elaborate schemes will the PC need to endure now?!

Pokemon Acquired!-Davy the Tentacool

Jellyfish are scary. But Davy isn't, being a rather timid indivisual. This does not make him a doormat by any means, in fact, he is rather stubborn about maintaining his position and opinions. No one exemplefies quiet strengh more than Davy!

After training and Bree evolving into Combusken, it was time for Jim to take on the Dewford Gym and Brawly. It took a quick blackout basement puzzle to reach the Gym Leader, and before he knew it, the young boy had engaged his second Gym Battle. He led with Jade, due to Confusion and Disarming Voice being two STAB moves strong against fighting types. Jim expected to have to switch out to Crocea Mors by the time Makuhita showed its' face, but to his delight, Jade could take on both of Brawly's Pokemon head on with nary an injury. Within four moves, the battle was over and Jim was crowned the victor, all thanks to one Ralts.

Everyone in the team congratulated Jade, even Stormageddon and Gerridae stopped bickering to do so. To see initially one of the weakest members of his team come so far warmed Jim's heart and raised his spirits. Meanwhile, Jade, who had been ostracized from his own kind for his wishes now found himself celebrated amongst friends, and got a chance for his true potential to shine. What more could anyone ask for?

Afterwards, Brawly told Jim to head back to Granite Cave to find Steven. Previously, the cave had been blocked off by 'mural enthusiasts', but now they were nowhere to be found. He met Steven staring at the mural in question, depicting a massive, ancient Pokemon with destrictive power. Jim shuddered, at least whatecver THAT was didn't exist anymore. Afterwards, Jim was instructed by Steven to deliver the Devon Parts to a man named Captain Stern in Slateport. With Mr. Briney being willing to ferry him over there, Jim arrived in the city in no time flat.

Exploring the beach and city was a blast for Jim and his team. Even if their primary goal was to become the very best, sightseeing was always something to enjoy. Then they stumbled onto the museum, and there was a line blocking the entrance. Those making up the line made everyone wary and nervous, and for good reason

They were Team Magma members.

Potion Festivals are so last week, Float Stone Dances are where it's at now!

Love the reference you made with Major and Maddie (and Claus IV, even if she's the wrong gender =P). But I hope you realize that Colette's Magikarp is named Skulkraken, with only one L. "Back in the old days, we only had 10 characters with which to name our Pokeymans." *mumbles something about kids and their new-fangled 12 character limit*

And I suddenly realize that I never saw Team Aqua forming a line outside the museum. I clearly skipped right to the point where they were already inside. Oops!

But keep up the good work! My only suggestion would be to make it clear which Pokemon are doomed to the PC and which ones have made it on your team. I, for one, suggest you use Skullkraken/Skulraken if you need a good Water-Type. =P

^ You should get Carvah- wait... Is Sharpedo version exclusive? If not, go Sharpedo. =P

Yay for refs nobody gets~

Hey, if I got 12 characters, I'm gonna use em. You realize I started Gen IV, where there were still only 10 characters available, right? =P

Well, my team should be assumed to stay the same unless I actually mention in story any changes. Otherwise, every Pokemon ends up in the PC. =P

Problem, Surf's a special attack. Gyarados and Sharpedo specialize in attack. Plus, the only really good Water type with a great special attacking stat is Milotic.... And is pretty much my only option for a strong Surf caddy. xP

Blade, why are you suddenly as obsessed with Sharpedo as you are with the name Anna? =P I had to give up my planned Cradaunt for a Carvanha cause you were so insistent. And since Camerupt wasn't version exclusive, I don't think Sharpedo is either.

Milotic isn't bad either. Would've used one myself had I not just caught the original Eilonwy six months ago. She was one of the best members of my Emerald team.

Can't say until you two use Sharpedo; you'll like it a lot too. =P

I'll consider it. Turns out Sharpedo's special attack is okay, while I was under the impression it was horrible, so that's a point in its' favor. But I will say this now... Mega Sharpedo looks like a Goblin Shark. =P And well, it's super tough looking and such. I think I might want some more team diversity in terms of appearance this time around, which is why I was considering Milotic. =P

(and in my version, I get Cameruptite first I think, cause ya know, OR instead of AS. =P)
