That still seems pretty fair, considering that's also what LEGO Elves has gotten for its first year story so far (we know more is coming, but we don't know when, and the main story arc for the year was wrapped up in 24 minutes).

Maybe if the sets sell particularly well they'll have the budget to do more animations (or longer animations) for future years, but in the meantime I think this is a fairly respectable running time.

Comparing it to Elves is probably not legit. That episode wasn't really great storytelling and was rushed/formulaic. The Bionicle animations, as short as they are, are much better than that.
