Dimensions

I always thought it was weird we tried to attach a fourth dimension to some things. It's not as if we could really comprehend them - can a square comprehend a cube? Can a circle comprehend a cylinder?

I would guess 'no'. Which makes one wonder if three dimensions are required for life. Can a square be aware?

Which, if there is an exponentially increasing complexity per dimension added, makes me wonder how incomprehensible a fourth dimension would be to us. Probably 'entirely'.

Except the fourth dimension is time.

We can theorize 11 dimensions (or 10 or 26, depending on who you ask), which (once again, depending on who you talk to) can either describe alternate realities or are wrapped up into infinitesimally small spaces and whose vibration is the source of all matter and energy in the observable universe.  Then there's Brane Cosmology, where all the dimensions for a single universe exist as a membrane floating through the Extra Dimensional Bulk (or hyperspace) alongside other membrane universes.

So to answer your question, no, squares and circles don't have feelings.

We know this because the speed at which you travel through space has an impact on the speed at which you experience time.  The two are inexorably interrelated; that is why we call it the space-time continuum.

:kaukau: My opinion was that time was a dimension, but it doesn't preclude there from being any more spacial dimensions.  Of course, I'm not an expert in theoretical physics, so what should I know.  I just love trying to solve this thing.

Also, just as there are multiple dimensions of space, I've sometimes wondered if there are further dimensions to time that we on a one-dimensional time-line can't comprehend.  To us, time moves forward, but maybe to a higher-level being, it expands.
