Quite famously, he made almost no friends and everybody had their strong disagreements with him. There wasn't a single person who didn't consider him to be a thorn in their side at some point. However, his character was unmistakable, and I have always respected him as a person an as a national treasure. America has lost a great hero and has concluded a major chapter in its history.
