Dinobot The Maximal Posted June 26, 2007 People demanded that the companies quit signing the Japanese to do the cartoons. Now we finally get an American/Canadian written series via this, guess you gotta be careful what you wish for. Really a shame they can't bring Mainframe back, they've all contracted with Bandai now. dviddy Posted June 26, 2007 People demanded that the companies quit signing the Japanese to do the cartoons. The Japanese should not be allowed to touch the franchise with a ten foot poll. A/E/C was pretty poor, and the animation was subpar, and inconsistent. KISS play is scary. As much as this animation style is different than anything that has ever happened to TFs before, I'm looking forward to a show that makes sense, without all the "OMG, Iz needz powreupes!" I think I'm okay with the Teen Titans/Clone Wars animation. Quote Link to comment
Dinobot The Maximal Posted June 26, 2007 Yeah, I mean some of the stuff the people who're working on Animated have already put out isn't that bad. Teen Titans was bearable, even enjoyable compared to a lot of the other cartoons out there. Heck, even the people they've got coming from Ben 10 can't do that much harm. For now I'm gonna reserve my judgement, which is what everybody should do. At least there won't be any more horrible dubbing to sit through. After watching the subbed version of Galaxy Force I can say that while the toys we got were some of the better ones in year, the series should've just stayed in Japan, the english dub RUINED a pretty decent series. As for that ten foot poll, I think they should still be on board for a lot of the designing. They gave us a freaking P-38 Masterpiece Megatron for pete's sake, so long as they keep putting out awesome sculpts like that I think its fair the Japanese have involvement at least in the toy department. Just try and keep 'em away from the animated series, unless if they can pull something off like Robots In Disguise again. DtM Quote Link to comment
dviddy Posted June 26, 2007 They gave us a freaking P-38 Masterpiece Megatron for pete's sake I'm clearly in the fandom minority, but I pretty much hate Masterpiece Megatron. Falls apart, poor leg design, etc. Plus I'm just not on board for a transformer that turns into a handheld gun, then turns into a giant robot. Mass shifting does not compute. I just think gun Megatron is lame. He should've stayed in G1 (which I am also not a fan of. May the fandom crucify me now.) Quote Link to comment
Dinobot The Maximal Posted June 26, 2007 I'm G2 myself, Megatron will ALWAYS be a tank in my eyes (and remotely less so, a grinning T-Rex). With the hiatus of Alternators, the only thing really the Japanese are gonna be involved in at this point stateside if the release of MP Screamer in anime colors. Thankfully, Hasbro fixed all the shoddy plastic and breakable parts. Now we've got an accurate, better built, better looking Starscream with blackwash to bring out all the details to boot. You ever pickup one of those 6" Cheetors? DtM Quote Link to comment
dviddy Posted June 26, 2007 You ever pickup one of those 6" Cheetors? No, but it's the one Titanium I want. All the stores here either don't have any Titaniums, or they're still stuck on Soundwave. I've resigned myself to buying him on-line. I just need to get paid next week first. <<DV>> Quote Link to comment
Guest Cap'n Bionicle Posted June 26, 2007 I always liked he Beast War series, but this is...oh no. Bad. Quote Link to comment
Ta-metru_defender Posted June 26, 2007 I liked the Teen Titans animation, CN's Clone Wars, however, I despised. It seemed soooo... shoddy, cheap, flash-like. But I must agree, Robots in Disguise was great. Sharkvite, FTW. TMD Quote Link to comment

The Cheetor/Fallen wave never hit stores, so yeah, at this point you're stuck online. DtM Quote Link to comment

Takatu Posted June 27, 2007 I always liked he Beast War series, but this is...oh no. Bad. I agree, Beast Wars was awesome. Good plot, without any of those bothersome humans to get in the way, save for the occasional cavemen. And I loved Megatron's voice. And dragon form. This, though, definitely took me by surprise. But it's not horrible -- I'll save my opinion for when it comes. Quote Link to comment

The way I see it the thought behind it, and thank Janus for putting it in the right words for me, is "Okay, you wanted a gun Megatron, we're giving you the best gun Megatron you could imagine. Now shut up and deal as we turn the rest into whatever we want" I hope he's a train in this. Or a building. Quote Link to comment

Nikira Posted June 29, 2007 Beast Wars was/has been the only Transformers series I've watched, and it was amazingly cool. This, however... yeah, it does not look cool. >> I say we riot. >=D ~Nikira Quote Link to comment
