Ever since the [[BIONICLE]] universe started, many locations were formed, each with different inhabitants. In fact, these locations are the most important aspect of the storyline, for without these places, the storyline itself would not have taken place. These locations range from giant [[Bionicle Mainland|continents]], to great [[Metru Nui|cities]] where [[Matoran]] lived and worked, and even those which are completely [[Karzahni (Location)|mutant]], and finally to those which are mere sightsees. These locations are split into three different categories:

The [[BIONICLE Mainland]] is a large, southern continent which is located within a giant underground dome. This continent was the location where [[Other "Fixed" Matoran|Matoran]] repaired by [[Karzahni (Being)|Karzahni]] were sent to.

[[Voya Nui]], otherwise known as the "Island of Doom" or the "Daggers of Death" as nicknamed  by the [[Matoran]], is a highly dangerous and low resource island located south of [[Mata Nui (Location)|Mata Nui]]. The native [[Matoran]] lead hard lives, and the arrival of the [[Piraka]] didn't help them at all. Voya Nui used to be part of the [[BIONICLE Mainland]], but during the [[Great Cataclysm]], Voya Nui shot to the surface. It is interesting to note that the Matoran live on only one part of the island due to its dangerous environment.

[[The Pit]] is a massive underwater jail where beings who are considered unredeemable by the [[Order of Mata Nui]] are taken. [[Botar]] is the Order of Mata Nui member responsible for sending defeated beings there. The Inner Pit was destroyed by the [[Great Cataclysm]] and thus the prisoners went to the Outer Pit, where they were altered by a mutagen in the water.

Odina is the base of the [[Dark Hunters]], and is situated on an island barricaded by tall cliffs. The base has many training facilities for Dark Hunters to practice in. Odina also has a beach named [[Nidhiki Beach]]. 

===[[Daxia]]===
Daxia is the largest base of the [[Order of Mata Nui]]. The island is a hot, tropical paradise with dangerous [[Rahi]] and plants. The base itself is equipped with strong weapons to defend itself, if needed. 

===[[Destral]]===
Destral is the largest base of the [[Brotherhood of Makuta]], and is armed with many traps and hidden weapons, to prevent intruders. Large amounts of [[Protodermis#Energized Protodermis|Energized Protodermis]] can also be found here. 

===[[Xia]]===
Xia is a mass producer of weapons for many organizations, including [[The League of Six Kingdoms]] before its destruction, the [[Brotherhood of Makuta]] and occasionally the [[Dark Hunters]], along with other islands which are willing to pay. Xia also houses a giant, living mountain, named [["The Mountain"]].

===[[Artakha (Location)|Artakha]]===
Artakha is a legendary refuge for good workers ruled by [[Artakha (Being)|Artakha]], a being of the same name. This island is home to the world's best Matoran carvers, and many famous artifacts they have created. The island is currently hidden away from the outside world after an invasion from the [[Brotherhood of Makuta]]. 

===[[Karzahni (Location)|Karzahni]]===
Karzahni is where damaged or injured Matoran used to be sent and be fixed, although all attempts by the land's ruler, [[Karzahni (Being)|Karzahni]] ended in failure. He eventually gave up in frustration and blamed the Matoran for his inability to fix them. The location eventually became a part of legend, saying that it is where bad or poor workers are sent.
