Medieval Salt Mining

Here I am, slaving in the salt mines at 2 in the morning, fingertips red and back aching, ready to throw something at the wall.

Why?

I'm working with my mother to finish costumes for the State Renaissance Festival, which is kinda like a Cosplay thing in how people dress up and stuff. This is the first year I've gone in costume, so it should be fun. We have three sets of full medieval garb to do, pretty much. Nice fabrics. Thick and toasty. X3

Well, the festival is tomorrow (Whoo! A day of humid 85 F weather in heavy costumes!), so we've been sorta busy. Lots of fabric to cut and iron and put a bazillion tailor tacks on. I officially hate pinning down boning to the inner seams of clothes, and our sewing table's a bit too low, thus making us hunchbacks for several minutes after laying out patterns.

My fingers are all sore and beat up from poking myself one too many times with the needle, and I'm really tired so my brain's kinda going into automatic mode. XD I haven't sewn this much in a LONG time.

We should be done around 3 or so, though, so yay. We can get about 4 hours of sleep before leaving tomorrow morning at 8. @.@

Then I can see what all one of my best friends has done this year for the fair. He's been working on a full chain mail piece for ages. I think he got it done, I don't remember... and to add that to his current managerie of medival pieces he's made this year...

Man, he's gonna die of heat stroke if he wears it all tomorrow. XD

Whee! *spins*

Ah, how I love the Renaissance Faire. Haven't been in ages, and never been dressed up (though I wanted to). Sounds like fun! What's the costume, out of curiosity?

Have a great time!

I've always wanted to go to a Renaissance Festival, though I doubt there are any near me. =(

I actually love sewing(I never get to do it though, which stinks), but I can totally agree when you are on a deadline like that, and have to get a bunch done your brain melts and your hands hurt. Annnnoooyyiiinnng!

But have fun and I hope you and others don't die of the heat! I though, was about to laugh when you said it was 85 there with humidity...be thankful it ain't 100 with humidity, now that's a killer.

Try to take some pictures, if you can!

Oh, boy! I dressed up for my area's Faire, only I used stuff from thrift stores and from Wal-Mart. And I played the pennywhistle. :) However, I still wish that I knew how to sew.
