And sorry if my post became a sort of rant, but I tried to keep it from being a political or religious rant. In fact, I really have no political or religious views on this subject. My views are purely philosophical, and deal more with how one should respond to opposing views such as these personally. It is my opinion that one should not disassociate oneself with another because they have flaws (at least by one's own standards) that do not concern anyone besides the person themselves. If anything one should associate with that person more so that he can understand the others views and, if deemed necessary, discourage them. This for me applies to any issue and any person capable of exercising reason.

And, there I went with another rant. But since I doubt it will be deemed offensive, I will leave it. CF, feel free to delete it and leave a note that it was deleted if you deem such views inappropriate, though I should hope that the views as they are expressed in this post will be deemed tolerable by all readers, since the context is of little consequence in this, my personal philosophy in all matters of controversy.

Well, as much as this is an important issue to discuss, there are many views out there and are not:

1) necessary on BZP. As long as no one feels violated by members, then I don't think this is an issue. We all have usernames, so for all I know Advocate could be female. (I know Aanchir is male) My point is it is not an issue here.

2) The point of this blog entry. I made this to see people's views about me changing my name, based on what I felt about the current news. We are not discussing the current news, just my name change and the reasons for that. Don't go deeper. There is the PM button, but this is close to a political and religious issue so I warn against it.

Notice I didn't mention anything specific, so unless you have some idea on what's going on, you won't really know what I'm talking about. Sorry if I took it too far.

But as for ChocolateFusion, do it. As used to as I am to your name, I think it's better to disassociate yourself from the aforementioned book for the aforementioned reasons.

If you really don't want my first post there with that content, I'll go ahead and edit it.

EDIT: Oh, and Aanchir, I'm sure my respect will rebuild over time. Just like trust rebuilds after a lie, or any kind of respect for any lawbreaker or *for lack of better term, not intending to imply any religious meaning* sinner *to explain, someone performing immoral actions*. Or like a wound heals. I try to see all *once again, for lack of better term* sins as no worse or better than others.

I wouldn't worry about recent news. I didn't even realize your name was connected to HP until you pointed it out.

 

But if you're going to change your name...why not go with "CF" or something. Then you're still your old self, but can say it stands for anything you want (change daily if you're so inclined)

Yeah...I just recently started to read Harry Potter, and then I saw the news...about...Urgh...

Chocolate Fikou and Fusion are pretty good names if you ask me. Go ahead. But I kinda' like Chocolate Fikou slightly better, as it still kind of pertains to your first username. I mean, ChocolateFrogs; y'know, the animal part? Not the Harry Potter part. I didn't even know it was a refrence to that.

If you see it as necessary to change your name because the author of a book it's referencing changed one of her characters, that's your own prerogative, as silly as it sounds to me.

Some of the other comments in this topic, however, are inappropriate and only go to remind me why we do not allow such discussions in the first place.
