Wizards In Winter

I forgot to blog about it last year, and would kick myself if I forgot this year.

What I just have to say is that the Trans-Siberian Orchestra has some of the best Christmas Music out there. Everybody knows their Carol of the Bells rendition, but I also love a lot of other pieces from their CD The Lost Christmas Eve.

Other favorites include:

Wizards in Winter

Siberian Sleigh Ride

Wish Lizts (Toyshop Madness)

What is Christmas?

Christmas Jazz

Anyone else like them? I'm not into classical (outside John Williams and other soundtracks), but the Trans-Siberian guys have electric guitars doing the Nutcracker Suit (and a Flight of the Bumblebee), so I give them my ears.

TSO is great fun to listen to. Even if WoW is a bit overplayed this time of year.

Have you seen the video of the house that coordinated their Christmas lights to WiW? (I think there's a couple out there. I'm talking of the one with the star to the right, and the two wreaths that look like eyes of the house, and lights on the ground set up in a triangle like bowling pins, going from 1-6 in each row. Awesome.

We found the coolest thing the other day: a WiW music contest. Apparently, it ran last Christmas. To enter, you downloaded an mp3 with either the keyboard, lead guitar, bass, or drum part removed and the sheet music for said instrument. Some of the entry videos were interesting. There was one person who entered the keyboard competition dressed as Beaker from the Muppets, while someone in a Kermit costume danced around in the background. He didn't win. I suspect the judges were more impressed with good playing than unorthodox presentation.

You bet. That video is sweet. Was used in some commericals even. Though this year they've got some generic house they put together. Can't say what it's for because some people here aren't old enough to consume it.

Um, are we talking about the same video/house? I know the one you mean when you mentined that beverage, but I'm talking about this one. (Which can be searched as "Wizards of Winter" (though the correct track is "Wizards in Winter"))

It's awesome.

I prefer "Christmas Eve and Other Stories" to WiW. CEOS is more religious and, if I remember correctly, just better sounding. They are all great, though.

To each his own. I'm not quite into that kind of music. (I have the CD, only listen to "First Snow" and "Carol of the Bells.")

There are a couple actual songs on The Lost Christmas Eve I enjoy, like "What is Christmas?", "Christmas in Blue," and tracks 2, and 3.

How many Christmas albums do they have? Quite a few, I'd imagine.

Edit: I don't know all the tracks by name, but "First Snow" is the one with the little kids singing and then "Merry Christmas, Merry merry Christmas" over and over again, right?

Um, no. There aren't any words in them, which I why I like them.

Oh, wait, Carol of the Bells is "Merry Christmas, Merry merry Christmas," the actual song, but it's more popular without words (and TSO does it without words. Actually, it's called something else on their CD. The two songs I'm talking about are tracks 4 and 8.)

No, he means the one where they're sort of chanting it. Like "Merry Christ-mas Merry Christ-mas" etc. And then it moves into "On this night, on this night, on this merry Christmas night, on this night, on this night," etc. And then it has other words underneath of that.

EDIT: In the time I spent making this post, I probably could have looked it up. :P
