I'm not very partial to the Japanese singers, I dislike the high voices, and "awkward" music.

First of all, BoA is Korean, as Master of Ice and Sonic has pointed out below.

Second, BoA has a broad vocal range. She can go from pretty low, to pretty darn high.

Awkward music... Am I missing something? ^^;

You'll find that the music in BoA's songs is pretty varied, with some songs having awesome guitar solos.
