I wonder if the blog mods can see all of these things you can when you are on your own blog.

Yes. They can even see blog entries that are still drafts and unapproved comments.

You could add directions on how to approve comments into the above entry. There are a lot of people who have no comments because they haven't approved them, and don't know how.
