The Followup
So, despite that stomach ache, I managed to do so totally well (for me...that's not saying a whole lot; but it's really a sport about personal improvement anyway). I took a sixth place in the 1600 metre run, cutting 14 seconds off of my previous time. Passing one person every strait stretch seems to be a working strategy, even if you miss the 7th one. So I'll get a ribbon-y thing for that.
I hadn't run an 800 metre run since last year, so I really had no sense of pace for that. I realize that if I had been thinking I could have probably taken first. But I don't really care, since I've never had my own thing to take second in except when there were two or three people. So I'll also enjoy a #2 ribbon for that! Would be #3, but my leading teammate couldn't run.
And of course my 4x100m relay team did awful. I like relays, but I prefer longer relays, where the hand-offs are not significant. Plus, if you could tell already, short distance isn't my thing anyway. I was on a 4x400m team, but it got cut *shrug*. I might be able to pull a medley team together, which would rock. I'd run 800m, and I'd just need to find someone for 400m and 200m (x2).
Anyway, life's good. Muscles are sore and sleep is short (I can't sleep past 9:00 anymore, and I don't go to bed early enough for that).
