My Debate With Nuju Metru Pt. 2

~ShadowBolt~

First I wanna say this, this is really fun. I just love to debate. :) Also, when we're done could I maybe put this on my blog and in the 2008 Sets Discussion Topic? I think this would be very interesting for the BZPers to read. I'll only do this if it's okay with you and if you want, I can block out your name. Again, It's okay if you don't want to do this. :)

I reached the emoticon limit on the board so, I had to delete all the quotes. Sorry.

TOA

1. Isn't armor mechanical? :P I think when it comes to the Phantoka/Mistika armor color, I think it's a matter of preference. I like the idea and feel of the gray/silver with just one main color while you seem to prefer the primary color over the gray/silver. :) Yeah, there have been cases where other Toa have had too much of their primary color and when I said Toa Metru, I was trying to think of examples... I do agree that they look nice and I like them a lot. :P

2. I see what you mean, there's quite a few things that the Mistika could have been better with but I like them. I kinda agree, I do wish that the Mistika were dark gray to match the Phantoka but they look really good. (IMO) I think the reason TLC used silver was to try something different and apparently, the focus groups liked it.

3. Well, different kinds of guns have different uses. A UZI would be used for close range but if you were trying to shoot something from far away a sniper rifle would be better. Same with melee weapons -- a spear would be better for someone further away from you while a sword would be better up close and personal. Again, this is all preference. I like the idea of using only weapons while you prefer a melee weapon with or without the gun.

Also, you can use the Toa Midak Skyblaster to create anything out of energy. You can create a flying projectile, make chains, create a wall, make a small bridge to go from one tree to another in the swamp, etc... The Makuta can control anything mechanical, including the Toa's mechanical parts. So these guys aren't exactly trying to blow each other out of the water.

4. Right, I agree with both points, but I just wanna say that Onua only had claws for one form, so technically, it's normal for him to not have claws.

So you're saying it's romantic when someone is running at you and you wack him in the face with a shield. :P Anyways, it's a moot point considering that Onua can't hold his shield in his hand, but he could... Nah, I'm not gonna go there. :P

5. A Piraka torso isn't exactly squat though it's shorter than the Inika one. I'll admit, Tahu's jets are placed oddly, but you can always modify it. :P Also, So you don't like his Adaptive Mask in general? Okay, that's fine. Nobody's stopping you. I don't even like Gali's mask so when I act out Bionicle Legends:10 with her, I'm not going to look straight at her mask and I'll imagine her mask as "prettier". :P Maybe you could do the same thing? :)

6. Well, the method is original and the environment change has only been used twice. That's hardly overused by now. When you say that masks can't change shape using the mechanical process, remember this, Bionicle physics are different from Earth physics. :P Also, what do yo mean by "realistically" in "Realistically, the Mistoa should have masks that are the same, if not similar, to their first ones."?

MAKUTA

Is being a bit disproportioned a bad thing? Many animals have disproportionate body parts in nature so why can't it be the same for shape shifting insectoid Makuta?

2. If that stick insect has several powers, is an expert at stealth, and it is larger than the Toa, it can beat them... :P

3. It is flat I'll admit, but I don't mind it. Again, it's all a matter of preference.

Yes, this is very fun. I started the challenge not only to be convinced, but also to find someone who loves to debate, like me. I think it would be interesting in the official '08 topic, and your blog, so fine by me. Should it be done post by post, or as one, long argument? However, I definitely don't want to be not mentioned; I am trying to make a name for myself, unless I already have one (not sure?). Here are my retorts...

TOA

1) It's obvious I prefer more primary colors to dominate, and you prefer more secondary ones. I think this point is a matter of tastes; we have reached a deadlock, as neither of us is willing to change our minds.

2) Yes, the Focus group has all the power nowadays, eh? If they like it, that's what goes. And also, more dark grey would make the Mistoa uniform to with their Phantoa partners. (I'm a stickler for organization)

3) I know that different guns are good for different things. However, in Bionicle, a launcher is a launcher. "Snipers" have a lazer sight, or something, but otherwise, they simply have a shooter as good as that of their fellows. Really, have we ever seen a Bionicle Uzi?

In roleplay, a commonplace for the Target Audience, and melee weapons can be used in a multitude of ways, as oppose to guns, where it's only, "point it at the thing you want to die!" :P And the projectile powers are just something else that weapon can do, although foremost in many a child's mind is, "what can it blow up?" Seriously, I know a fair amout of younger fans (I'm actually their Mentor), and that's what they always ask.

4) Yes, yes, too true. I still want him to have hand-to-hand tools now, though.

5) Not romantic, but romanticized, meaning glorified unrealistically. I use this word to describe Hollywood's combat scenes, considering they exaggerate fighting. And, actually, as it's attached to his shoulder, it isn't much of shield, anyways.

6) I mean, we've never seen or heard of a process to mechanically change the appearance of masks. It doesn't make sense towards the "adaptive armor" theory if the Mistoa's masks aren't changed, or look nothing like their previous Kanohi Nuva. Thus, as I said masks can't be mechanically transformed, their armor should be changed, but with the same masks.

I have to go, so I'll do the Makuta later.

Sounds good. Whoever posts this can break the argument down. One part is from before I deleted the quotes and this part of the debate, and so forth...

1. The good thing is that you can always add more of the primary colors, but it's a bit tricky on how you group them... : )

2. I wanted the Mistika to match the Phantoka since they were already gray and Onua would be perfect in gray. Also, Gali and Tahu wouldn't be that bad at all, though I like how they are now, too. : )

I was thinking that it would be sweet if the Phantoka were all silver. Imagine a silver and white Kopaka, a silver and lime-green Lewa (that would be great) and a silver and orange Pohatu... I personally like the silver over the gray.

3. But if you're a storyline buff, blasters have different powers, but to the average fan, I'll admit you're right.

Umm... if you're a younger kid, you whack the Toa's weapon at "whoever you want to die". : P Though you bring up a valid point. :)

4. Hence why he has a battering ram Nynrah. :P Being hit by anything can hurt...

5. I know what you meant, kinda... : P But it can still block things if he shifts his arm towards the oncoming projectile.

6. I think I know what you mean, but you'll have to use imagination on that point.

So, are you going to buy the Mistika -- do you like them better now? : ) By the way, we reached the emote limit, so you'll have to modify them so that the board doesn't recognize them as an emote. ; )

~SB~

I think you oughta post it... I don't think I could put this in your blog, and you are more well know, so people would pay attention to the argument.

1) Yes, however, I don't want to have to fix the problems with a product I'm paying for. That's like buying a car, and having to fix the engine!

2) I would also prefer uniform colors, but what are you gonna do? Silver as a main color for both Mistika and Phantoka would be very cool.

3) I'm trying to put this in the perspective of the average fan. So, to them, guns are guns. (If I said before, I actually tudor some younger "target audience" fans on the working of everything Bionicle.) I've used melee weapons and tools in roleplay (as a 7-8 year old) as climbing assets, lockpicks, killing utensils (duh) and other things.

4) Oh... Battering ram Nynrah... I see, but still a ranged weapon, in my opinion.

5) Yes, yes, if you put it that way. But there may not be time to shift his body, as oppose to a lighter shield, which takes only arm movement.

6) Good point.

I actually have ordered Krika, considering he's my least favorite, and If he's okay, then I'll see...
