Ah the summer holidays (which I am now on BTW). They give me time to relax, enjoy life...and listen to that plumber we have in hammer and drill away at our pipes ><

At least I have some new books to take my mind off it. Jingo/The Fifth Elephant by Terry Pratchett and Superior Saturday by Garth Nix.

My last day of college was the 23rd of May, and during the month of June the only thing I had to go in for were my A levels. :P

"Study leave"? There are small, ignorant children here, ahem.

I just finished Moving Pictures. That Pratchett is a genius, isn't he?

There are British people here Sets_ :P

It's study leave because he's geting time off to study (it just so happens that it overlaps with his holidays). That's what we call it over here, I don't know what crazy word you Yanks came up with to try and sound less like the people you celebrate overthrowing.

I recently aquired a taste for Pratchett and it's growing into a hunger (summer holidays with nothing to do make me read more). Next on my Hit list are Interesting Times and Maskerade...

Still sore over America KICKING YOUR TEA-DRINKING BEHINDS in our TOTALLY AWESOME REVOLUTION? Well, maybe I should RUB IT IN YOUR TEA-DRINKING FACE SOME MORE!

Ha!

I think we call it "summer vacation". Unless you're talking about some college thing, in which case I have no idear.

*Pratchett-fan secret handshake*

Summer vacation is totally different. That's when you break up and go on an actual holiday

Study leave is only for those who are doing serious exams like A-Levels (another thing you Americans don't have). It means you don't go to any lessons on the principle that you will instead spend your time studying (yeah, right) in order to get better grades on the exams.

I'd rather drink tea than Coca-cola

Are you newly reading the books, or are you re-reading Moving Pictures? Because that's one of the earlier ones isn't it?

Of the month or so I had off I spent about a week studying. I don't see how anyone can expect you to spend six hours a day, five hours a week, constantly studying.

And, uh, in America it's still called study leave... :P

We have ACTs. We have SATs. We have SAT IIs. We have IB tests. We have all the decent inventions.

We have french fries (phail) . You have chips (WIN).

And your schools are too. Friggin'. Easy.

I don't understand if you're complaining about us or are jealous of us for those facts. :P

We have SATs. We have GCSEs. We have A-Levels. We have A2-Levels. Decent inventions? Such as? Both TV and the computer were invented by Britons before you try them.

The schools only seem easy because so many teachers are willing to cheat so that their points averages are higher

No, I went to England for a few months. During the school year. I LEARNED NOTHING.

We got airplanes. Microsoft. The Ford Assembly line. :P

Then you just can't learn stuff Nihy. That is quite clearly the case :P

The first aeroplane was designed and constructed by the Italian Leonardo Da Vinci (alright, so it didn't work, but if it weren't for him the Wright brothers wouldn't have known were to start). I refuse to believe Microsoft is a good thing. Mass production was first put into play in Briton during the Industrial Revolution.

Keep tryin' foo'

No you didn't, you took someone else's designs and altered them. I call that plagiarism :P

We've got Michael Faraday. And George/Robert Stevenson. Edison would have been nothing without them.

Frag London all you like. If it goes down Birmingham (where I live) becomes the capital :happydance:

Yeah, but you couldn't have the Internet without computer. And I've already spoken to you about them

No, plagiarism is when you take everything and keep it liek that.

If we're going to frag our own capital, then we'd do it on purpose. :P

Really? So... then you've got more traumatic experiences than good ones on the web? ;__;

...

...

Perhaps we should quit while we're ahead.

I was referring to the fact that I'd mentioned the computer had been invented by a Briton (Charles Babbage)

But yeah, we should quit this before a Moderator locks the entry :P
