A Couple Tips On Rping.

Okay, first off, don't post until you're approved. Even if it's an RPG where you're supposed to post your application, don't just immediately launch into an IC. Wait for approval.

Secondly, spam. A little off-topicness is fine, but pages of it ain't cool.

Three, the staff are the ones who decide the nitty-gritty of the story, and in cases of RPG storyline, they are the final say. Arguing will get you nowhere.

Four, posting only to say that you're leaving is pointless. It's rather easy to tell that you're leaving when your little "Unity, Duty, Destiny" sign turns grey, and that the server reads you as just sitting there.

Five, Spam ICs. What is a spam IC? A spam IC is one that is pointless and serves no purpose other than posting for the sake of posting. Example:

IC: Bob fell asleep.

And then there are long-length spam ICs. This could be doing something like listing the ingredients and nutritional information from a box of cereal while your character eats, or writing a history book inside the RPG.

Just a little friendly advice. :D

EDIT: Added a fourth.

EDIT AGAIN: Added a fifth.

Pages of Spam isn't cool, but a few FIC's and a couple of pointless OOC's discussing something for a tiny little bit I can tolerate.

I agreez with all of the other rules though, although I think the creator of a RPG should generally post "PM your application" as it makes the RPG less cluttered with profiles that are on the front page.

I believe that if you are in a conversation with someone and in your last IC you could put a little OOC: I'm going away, message. The Three Virtue symbol turns grey after fifteen minute of me being inactive, and goes grey at times when I am online...very strange.

I perfeactly still agree with everything else though.

(Does IC flirting for a page and a half with nothing better to do considered to be a bit of Spam? If so I am guilty of it. =P)

No, since it was ICing, and character development, I don't count that as spam.

Now, saying that you're going if you include a non-spammy IC(Ex of spammy IC: Bob sat down.)is fine, and if it's an OOC saying that you're going to be gone for a couple days, that's fine in my book.

Actually, I like the OOCs that tell me when someone is leaving or is going to be gone for a certain amount of time. DOesn't leave me asking ,"Hey, where's X been?"

I was talking about the OOC-only posts where a person says that they're going for the night or that they're gonna be gone for a few hours.

I think that some off-topicness is fine as long as there isn't more than actual RPing. Like remember those awesome and wacky side-discussions we had back in Warriors?

I also remember actual ICing taking place during them.

FICs? Guilty. All too often, to vent in Reality a hundred or so pages back, I would make an FIC in which someone else either recites an answering machine message (if they're being excessively not-there) or some other inanity of insanity.

By the way...

SPACEBALLS!

:kaukau:I'm sort of at odds with the last one. What if the detail means something to you? For all you know, I might personally find the nutrition facts of an alien cereal interesting (but then again, that's an alien, something anyone would find interesting). What if my character is obsessed with keeping him/herself at a healthy weight and I used their observation just to help show that?

Of course, yeah, they could be a bit spammy, but not if done correctly.

As for posting to say that I will be gone, I still do that anyways, to formally address that discussion with me has ended. I also sometimes mention the expected period of time I have to be online.

Your Honor,

Emperor Kraggh
