Valtika Posted August 31, 2008 because if he were, technically all the bionicle species would be considered parasites? Or bacteria, or Antibodies, or Viruses(Makuta). Quote Link to comment

Valtika Posted August 31, 2008 a creature that lives off of its host (every creature in the matoran universe lives off the land in some way) is a parasite. Yes, but the host can live without a parasite. If Matoran are "Parasites", & if they left, Mata-Nui would die. Unlike a Normal Parasite & host. Quote Link to comment
Wrinkledlion X Posted August 31, 2008 My seven year image of him is a rock, so this is as close as it gets. Quote Link to comment
Rocco Posted August 31, 2008 Because little kids don't understand all those mirror neurons and cells. They just like that he's really tall. Quote Link to comment
Ngakunui Posted August 31, 2008 Personally, I find "Mu" to be rather similar to "moo", and giving him that title would be silly... ... Though, personally it does remind me of an old Polynesian myth, that I think MataNui's story may have some ties to, storywise. Reasons being, In said myth some... guy ended up getting struck down by someone, and he ended up bleeding out. Then, according to said myth, the ocean was his blood, and his corpse was the island chain they inhabited. This instantly came to mind when I saw an overhead map of it in some Lego Magazine, or Bionicle comic; if you looked closely to the area surrounding the Island of Mata Nui, it looks quite a bit like the torso of a human body, with limbs connected... though I don't recall seeing the head. Still, It may be possible that a similar happening is responsible for the island of Mata Nui; if he is really as tall as Greg says, him falling down would have caused him to be covered with sand and dirt...and stuff. The part about a "mysterious energized protodermis leak" is also consistent with the struck down character bleeding(though it terraforms an environment as opposed to creating the surrounding ocean). I think it may be likely, though, that this is the case, or is similar in some matter. I'll do some research to see what that myth is from, I remember hearing it on the National Geographic Channel waaayyy back in '01. I apologise for any lack of eloquence in my descriptions. -Ngakunui Quote Link to comment
Wrinkledlion X Posted September 1, 2008 Well, the plans for Mata Nui were decided on in 2001, so it's likely that it takes from Polynesian mythology. Quote Link to comment
Zipper Posted September 1, 2008 Because then he himself would be powerless against all changes in his body. And we know Mata Nui can easily destroy anything. Quote Link to comment
Planetperson Posted September 5, 2008 a creature that lives off of its host (every creature in the matoran universe lives off the land in some way) is a parasite. Yes, but the host can live without a parasite. If Matoran are "Parasites", & if they left, Mata-Nui would die. Unlike a Normal Parasite & host. They are not parasites; they are symbiotes. Mata Nui cannot live without the Matoran, nor they without him. And from what we know about Mata Nui so far, that's actual fact right now, it does not need to be based on the MN=MU theory. I agree with the Polynesian myth idea. I think the fact that Bionicle is based on a literal interpretation of that relationship between creator and created ultimately makes the story a fantastic, epic, even emotionally moving adventure.
