Swing Swing
Just found out one of the songs covered by the Norwegian Socks, Swing Swing is by All American Rejects... Pretty cool. One bonus point for AAR, puts 'em above most other punk-rock-ish bands. Too many of those out there, but if you're being covered by Herman and company, you're pretty awesome. I might even pick up one of their records, some of their songs remind me of Alkaline Trio.
Pretty coincidental, them being the ones to join the Free The Band promotion. Too bad I'm not eligible for any of the prizes. (Still need to find time to play the games on that site...)
I also picked up another dEUS record, Worst Case Scenario. I already had In a Bar, Under the Sea, but one of my favourite songs, Suds & Soda, is on WCS. Both songs predate the parting of ways with lead singer Stef Kamil Carlens, who started his own band, Moondog Jr. (later to become Zita Swoon, due to a copyright thing). Now Tom Barman's the vocalist, but I'm more into the early stuff, which was a lot more experimental. Not following? That's okay, it's all Belgian music. ![]()
I also bought a CD grouping both Surfer Rosa and Come on Pilgrim by the Pixies. Can't do without the Pixies in my record collection, especially songs like Gigantic and Where Is My Mind?.
I bought both albums after work at Bilbo, a record store that sells records at a cheap price. I only spent 16 EUR on two albums (three, technically), which is the price of one (more expensive) Inika over here. That's a good deal.
