I mean, I can think of countless MOCs where it's like 'whoa that's awesome! 1000000000000000/10!' but after I look at it, I see 'Hmm, I actually don't like that, and that, and that, etc.'

If that's what it takes to review a MOC well, I say it's worth it.

Eh, I say you look at it and then analyze all the pieces used in it. You can tell when they're using pieces creatively and if they should fix things that way.

Well, the first one or two times I look at a MOC that I like, I'm blinded with love. It takes a while to clear my head.

Tis true. Sometimes I do wait a few days before I review something, but sometimes I just pop in, and look the MOC over, and then review.

I usually do the former with something I'm wowed by. The latter with MOCs I'm not wowed by.
