Fun With Adverbs

In theory, an adverb can be formed by adding the "-ly" suffix to any adjective. Examples include "happy" > "happily", "weird" > "weirdly", etc.

So I've been having fun with some very strange adverbs.

  • uglily
  • bluely
  • sugarily
  • scaredly (not an odd word really, but it wasn't in the dictionary)
  • Communistically
  • left-to-rightly
Uses:
  • "He uglily crept down the hallway."
  • "The depressed man trudged bluely across the street."
  • "The three-year-old bounced sugarily around the room."
  • "He peered scaredly at the open door."
  • "Stalin seized control Communistically."
  • "He walked to the street and peered at it left-to-rightly."

bluely is a word, it's just not registered by Firefox spell check.

Strangely, Okay wasn't added to as a word in the spell checker until 3.0.
