Car Chase

I just rewrote one of my favorite car chase sequences. A lot of my typed work was lost last year, and I've been trying to reproduce some of it since. This is for the story Elements, which I have mentioned here before. Strange, it took me a week to get through the first introduction chapter, then months upon months to get through the next few chapters that set up the story, and the first bit went slowly as I wrote small portions of the fights over a long period of time. (And some of them I felt weren't quite as good as the original) And then, boom, I get to this chase scene, in which I remember the cartography very well. And in a few hours I have six pages. Booyah!

As for a description of the chase, it involves hijacking a pickup truck from the bad guys, a fight with a ninja in the bed in which the hero is nearly thrown off the side, a jump over a lifted draw bridge, and a spectacular crash that occurs when the truck's breaks and steering stop working, as well as the accelerator stuck down. To follow that, the crash sends a skyscraper falling down towards the heroes. And this is all intertwined with various curse words in the dialogue.

"Are you going to drive like you do in real life, like a paranoid freak, or like you do in video games, like a reckless imbecile?”

“How about like a reckless, paranoid, regular guy,”

It works beautifully in my head. In writing, it might now be as good. Or if it were to take place in the physical world...
