It doesn't.

You have me sold on everything but the handle. The clutter there just doesn't fit with the super AWESOMENESS that is the rest of the gun.

Also, this is so close to what I had designed for this contest, before I realized I wouldn't have time to actually build anything, that it's scary.

Thanks Darth! I must agree, the handle isn't quite what I wouldn't liked. It looks alot more... technicish due to the fact that I couldn't fit any smooth plates onto the sides. If I did, it wouldn't fit into my hand anymore. Despite the clutter, it fits perfectly in my grip comfortably. Thus, I didn't want to sacrifice that grasp just for some smooth plates, if you get my meaning. I also disliked the fact that I couldn't fit any green pieces in there; the pieces I used only came in silver or black. Ah well, I'm very pleased with the result regardless!
