Locked Out
I hate it when this happens.
Because I am extremely paranoid, I always have my door locked. By reflex, whenever I unlock my door and open it, I lock it again as I close it, so that it's never left opened when I'm not around. (On my watch, at least. I've had some roommates who weren't as diligent) But this habit means that if I don't have my keys on me... then I'm screwed.
It happened tonight. And there are Resident Advisers on call for these late night situations... they have the keys to unlock all the doors. In some other dorms, there's a nice system for finding out who is on call and where to find them. But in my dorm, all there is is a phone number... so you call the RA on duty. But that requires a phone.
Seriously, if you walk to the bathroom in the middle of the night, and you forget your keys, they expect you to have your phone on you?
I had to wake up my floor RA, who then called the RA on duty, who then came to help me. Now I have a midterm tomorrow morning, so I should get some sleep.
(Oh yeah, and you're supposed to try and wake up your roommate before you go to the RA... but my roommate is currently on a plane ride to LA, so that wasn't really an option.)
